- concerning eilegz:
triggerhappy yes or maybe he just wants to pull attention to his post...
anyway, eilegz I will ask you again in 2 years if 1.5GHz is enough to run software released at that time. Maybe you will have noticed by that time that there is more than just hype concerning the current fastest PCs...
I can confirm that there is a big difference between 1.8GHz and 2.4GHz. Just try doom3 with both clockrates and you will be happy for every single extra MHz

- Doom3 is what should push the hardware, not MS's windows OS. MS constantly says its because of their bloated OS filled with unnessesary features that makes the PCs so fast.

- I see the CPU comes up as two in the device manager, so it would in essence be a SMP system then. And certain soundcards have problems with DUAL-CPU (SMP) configs: philips acoustic edge and SB Live all the way to 5.1 are officially not supported and I have issues with my GTXP. Why not make the CPU faster for single-tasking like AMDs Athlon?

- arstechnica has a nice summary on hyperthreading, they report some combinations of application multitasking result in lower performnce. Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz Processor Review
Hexus.net are pleased to announce the release of our Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz Processor Review. Here is an excerpt from the review:
The overclocking performance and CPU scaling at 3GHz are what impress me most with this new processor. You don't have to run with HyperThreading enabled (and of course you may not even wish to run the processor on a board that even supports it) and as a single processor with HyperThreading off, it simply flies.
Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz with Hyper-Threading
TweakTown has just posted a review of Intel's latest Pentium 4 processor clocking in at 3.06GHz with all new Hyper-Threading technology.
"The Pentium 4 processor at 3.06GHz is here and it certainly means business not only breaking the impressive 3GHz barrier but sporting a new technology called Hyper-Threading (HT). Wouldn't it be nice to have dual processing support from a single processor? Well in theory, at least, you can with the latest processor from Intel. Read on as TweakTown takes us on a discovery of the Pentium 4 3.06GHz processor to determine whether or not HT and a little extra core speed boast is worth our upgrading dollars or not!"
Killer7 is a new action adventure planned for Japanese release on the Nintendo GameCube from director Gouichi Suda, produced by Shinji Mikami. The main character is a wheelchair-bound old man, named Kun Lan, who happens to be an assassin with seven different personalities. Some refer to Kun Lan as God Hands. The company's info on the game states that the story will take place "deep inside the very heart of Umbrella." A release date for the game is still to be announced.
As part of Capcom's Japanese announcements, the company has revealed plans to produce a new GameCube game called Viewtiful Joe. The game is said to be a side-scrolling action game that stars a superhero. Viewtiful Joe is scheduled to hit Japanese shelves in the spring of 2003.
Also one of the announced games is Dead Phoenix, a action adventure game. Director Hiroki Kato says he wants to create that "flying like the bird" feeling in this game. What he exaclty mean with that, we don't know. This is game is set for a release in summer 2003.
Finally, there is the game Product Number 03, an an action game starring a female soldier named Vanessa Z. Schneider. it is being said that she's a mercenary armed with a high-powered laser--and she's a robot killer.
