- It should be free for those who were unfortunate enugh to buy the original Plus! for XP, just like yours truly.

- I do not understand why Microsoft just doesn't make the entire Windows XP Media Center edition as an addon. Like most people in this forum I already have a highend PC with both a TV turner and DVD drive.
It should be available to existing Windows XP Pro users for something around the price of $59. At the very least maybe offering Media Center at the same price as XP Pro for all consumers. I will never buy another computer just for the added ability of TV/DVD.

- XP Media Center Edition is tied to certain hardware, so it cannot be purchased separately. You should try J. River Media Center 9, which does pretty much everything the Microsoft product does. Look for Version 9

- It's not tied to hardware. All you need is a remote and a TV tuner card (and that's optional, if you don't want the TV stuff).

- I would install it if it came with Media Player Media Centre Edition... but apart from that this looks like a really good way to waste some money

There is one reminder for http://v4beta.windowsupdate.com site users:
On 12/28/2002, all servers in our lab will go off line due to building power maintenance. We are planning to gracefully shut the servers down at 12:01am on Saturday morning and bring them back online at 12:01am Sunday morning.
Happy New Year!
Thank you!
