- Why do they even bother with product activation in the first place? They're only annoying legit users who now have to pay for multiple copies of the products, while us pirates just install the cracked editions.
Arrr me mateys, tis a good day!

- Yeah I was seriously wondering how long it would take for it to be cracked. I wasn't holding my breath of course, because I didn't think any crackers would give a damn about some crappy program. Perhaps they cracked it to show off?

- I agree with the double standard issue here. I am surprised that this article was posted in the first place - and now even more surprised that it is still up. Beginning to look like a warez site!

- Beyond all of that. Have you ever made the mistake of trying to register on of these Microsoft Plus tthings! I call them Plus Demographics. They ask about 10 queestions about you personally number of employyees age etc. What that has to do with registering a program is sus[pect and it won't let you download updates in some instances altho MS says registration is not mandatory.l For the hell of it I've taken to installinga nd uninstalling a couple of these things a few times but always on the same computer so as to really screw up the demographics. I put the age around 93. Get my drift. If enough people were to do the same thing, I wonder what would happen. I wonder whether we'd get pop unders for AARP. or burial insurrance or rest homes. I'm not advocating this mind you but I just wonder!

- God bless the hackers for teaching Microsoft a lesson
, now the question is, will Microsoft learn from this?, very unlikely, thats like telling the RIAA to give up there fight with these peer networks lol. -
#21.1 Posted by JaggedFlame on 03 Feb 2003 - 15:04
- That's a little different. You can't blame a company for trying to protect its IP, but the RIAA is trying to go way out of its bounds.

- can't get the registry crack to work, I've uninstalled DME, installed the registry entry, then reinstalled DME, restarted and then tried to activate but it still says my code is wrong. I've tried 4 different codes, and they are the only ones I could find anywhere. Anyone know of a keygen??
Oh well, if anyone can help, thanks in advance. If not, M$ can go shove their activation.

Microsoft's first test of a home user product with activation has been broken. A reliable source has informed me that the "crack" works as-long as you don't have DME installed and any previous Plus! packs installed. The crack itself consists of just a registry file which is run before "Activation".
At the moment there has been no comment or response from Microsoft, although I expect a "patch" will likely be made available to render the crack useless and fix any slight bugs in the program itself. Until then it appears its crackers one ;), Microsoft nill.
Neowin asks that users do not request or post links to the crack here, or link to any other sites below that do. No you cant download or request where to get it so don't bother asking, we don't want or need to know.
