Thanks eaglebtc...Welcome to the PC Satisfaction Trial

The PC Satisfaction Trial team would like to thank you for joining the PC Satisfaction Trial technology test! This is a very early version of software that will eventually be used in a trial with “ordinary” users. Our records indicate that you are willing to install and use this service on a Windows XP computer in your home.

In order to run the Trial software, the computer must:

 • Be running Windows XP Professional or Home Edition
 • Have a CD-R or CD-RW drive
 • Be using the NTFS file system on ALL Partitions (our current product won’t work with FAT-32 volumes!)
 • Must have a broadband connection (cable, DSL, or T1/T3 connection)

If you have a PC that meets these requirements, great! If not, could you please reply to this mail and let us know what is missing?

Please go to www.pcsatisfactiontrial.com , where you can register for and download the PC Satisfaction Trial. In order to gain access to this server you will need to supply the .NET Passport ID that you gave in the survey. If you don’t have one, or if the one you try is not working, please send mail to us at pcsat@microsoft.com.

We very much appreciate your participation in this trial!
The PC Satisfaction Trial Team

The new Java v1.4.1 release also features myriad enhancements for Mac OS X software integration. 1.4.1 improves Java applet support, for example, for those Web browsers that support the Java Internet plug-in. Apple's own Safari Web browser, presently in public beta testing, is such an application.

Java 1.4.1 is also up to date with the latest Java release from Sun, according to Apple. New features include built-in support for XML-based Web services, enhanced client functionality, and improved performance and reliability.

What's more, Java 1.4.1 takes better advantage of Mac OS X's Aqua and Quartz Extreme. Java applications now fully leverage the Universal Access features built in to Jaguar. Also, Java applications can be controlled through AppleScript, via UI Scripting technology.

Same here...... ?_?

I'll know as soon as I get my new CD burner. I have to have one at install time, because it wants to make a CDR backup of some files. the line that says 'missing any of these? email us' is written in such a way that it might suggest that MS would put up the cost of getting your PC ready to run this trial. but that's not likely.
#5 eaglebtc on 11 Mar 2003 - 09:36

Lol, I couldn't get passed the sign in screen. Also just by looking at the page I get the impression someones just trying to fool me into giving up my password, so I just changed it(again) and will wait for you ginea pigs to go try it out.

I agree with #7, This looks dodgy as.
#13.1 mAcOdIn on 11 Mar 2003 - 11:58
I think I misread it, I think only users who have been notified via the survey can actually log in, so the site is kinda misleading. As per whois, no way someone would lie about that, yahoo didn't care what I put on my domain info(Although I'm kicking myself for using Yahoo). But I think it's legit did some deeper searching on it, and there's some older topics around about microsoft launching this soon. Does look Dodgy as hell though hehe.
#14 crookram on 11 Mar 2003 - 12:09
wtf is this? pc satisfaction trial? lemme guess, Uncle Bill is going to help you get the best satisfaction out of your pc. in that case i can't wait for the p0rn.microsoft.com subdomain to be created.
If you have a PC that meets these requirements, great! If not, could you please reply to this mail and let us know what is missing?
Heh... sounds like if you're missing something, they'll give it to you? wishful thinking perhaps. Makes me want to write in and say "I'm missing a p4 3Ghz, 1GB of RAM, and the fastest video card. I already have a CDRW but no computer to hook it up to"
(4 replies) #16 ThunderRiver on 11 Mar 2003 - 14:24
Well, Microsoft decided to provide you with their own Antivirus software, smarter PC health check system (better Winodws Update), and it now provides you with ability to backup files onto a CDR.. sounds good? I hope so too.. and oh..it has built in firewall (a better one too)
