Intermec Technologies Corp. released a beta version of its developer libraries for the Microsoft .Net Compact Framework. The Compact Framework, which will be included in Visual Studio .Net 2003, is a toolset designed to simplify development on Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system.

Intermec, Everett, Wash., develops mobile computing systems for collecting data within manufacturing plants, warehouses and shipping and receiving facilities.

Intermec has released developer libraries for data collection, report printing, wide-area wireless networking and DEX communication. The libraries manage the interaction between an application and an Intermec device.

By taking advantage of the libraries, developers can add support for Intermec devices in their applications without writing the interface software. Applications need be written only one time and can run across multiple platforms to connect applications and services.
