I'm not complaining about neowin offering this link.. and I don't mean to be a pain, but man, neowin can be awfully confusing. Plenty of people on neowin post links to leaked MS betas, and the threads get shut down about as fast as they appeared, I got that similar treatment when I posted a link to a DX9 beta many moons ago with a deleted thread and a PM from a mod. So, with this being posted, what IS the word on posting links to leaked betas now?
#8 aleni on 30 Mar 2003 - 10:47
lol @ leebobs btw, im not gonna install this, coz this will mess up my shell32.dll and other dll mods.

#14 Jiles on 30 Mar 2003 - 11:39
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! Let's update our OS's critical files with pre-pre-release versions!
#15 Beast_4thHM on 30 Mar 2003 - 12:05
A service pack is mostly composed of other already available updates , like with SP1 which offered updates u could d/l as stand-alone The very fact its alpha means that most of its internal patches are already at beta or released I gonna install this cuz my WinXP already acts funny.... so I'm ready to take a chance

The service pack is going to free online anyway, so that's why MS is not focusing on catching those little guys that leak alpahs. But, Alpha softwares aren't supported, so if something goes wrong, don't call MS and ask for support.
#24 Panorama on 30 Mar 2003 - 15:26
Is this safe? I doubt it since it's still alpha.
#25 Ji@nBing on 30 Mar 2003 - 15:48
alpha serive back? no thanks
#26 Dark Vageta on 30 Mar 2003 - 15:51
with evertthing theres a chance i install EVERY Sp1 before it was Relase and never had a problem i say Back up everything and GO FOR IT
#27 xStainDx on 30 Mar 2003 - 16:25
oh...ALPHA...back to bed I go....
#28 altezza on 30 Mar 2003 - 16:39
Rather wait 'til it's officially released.
#29 JaggedFlame on 30 Mar 2003 - 17:41
This is pretty useless unless you're providing feedback to Microsoft. I mean, the whole point of the program is to find vulnerabilities in the software so that when the final gets released those problems won't exist. I can understand installing a beta of Office for new features or something, but in this case, the only thing that's there is bug fixes. Not stable bug fixes, but ones that could jeopardize the safety of your computer. So for those of you asking, wait until the final comes out. For those of you who've already made up your minds, go for it.
#30 RanCorX2 on 30 Mar 2003 - 17:48
i took a chance, installed it...and its been ok for over a day now. i like yummy updates....
#31 Knight' on 30 Mar 2003 - 18:19

#32 ORPHlC on 30 Mar 2003 - 19:07

Hmm CreamHackered you seem not able to make up mind on this issue can you? Other day you were deleting posts with any reference on where to get it now your posting it yourself. I see a double standard here man.
#33.1 creamhackered on 30 Mar 2003 - 19:46
Well I was told by the admins to post this so I did, I was told the other day to remove links so i did, dunno whats going on lol
#33.2 Makki on 30 Mar 2003 - 22:23
LOL hey its all good right hehe.
#34 TC17 on 30 Mar 2003 - 23:03
I don't think it very wise to install an Alpha version like this. Especially when you may not have access to any more updates. If anything, Microsoft is just adding more spyware.
#35 BrY on 30 Mar 2003 - 23:23
QUOTE (Jaded1 @ Mar 30 2003, 06:20) The method to get rid of the version on your desktop is the same as with the betas of sp1. Go to your start menu and then to run type certmgr.msc goto the "Trusted Root Certificate" followed by the subdirectory "Certificates" then look for "Microsoft Test Root Authority" highlight it and delete it. restart your puter and the message will be gone. That didn't work, anyone got an updated method of disabling the desktop msg?
#36 oddBall on 31 Mar 2003 - 00:52
You would be bloody stupid to install this on your system and expect it to keep working - of course its not stable - its Alpha!
#37 Zeni on 31 Mar 2003 - 01:33
This thing lags me like nobodies business, downloaded it earlier in the week, uninstalled it 2 hours later
#38 bilemke on 31 Mar 2003 - 04:09
this really isnt that bad people.. when you think about.. what is a serice pack? it is a collection of hotfixes/patches put into one installer. Most ( i bet) changes in the sp2 are nothing more then the hotfixes many of you may or may have not already downloaded on windows update or through other sources.
