Timdorr has written a review! SpeedUpMyPC from LIUtilities is a utility to provide optimization of your system, both in terms of speed and reliability. It covers 5 basic areas: CPU, Memory, Internet, System Startup, and Crashes. Each area features several different options for optimization. In addition, there are monitors available to track what resources your PC is using.

I must say, I was rather pessimistic about this software. I’ve seen far too many ads on the web for software claiming to speed up your pc, much of which was deceptive advertising appearing to be a system message or something to that effect. My expectation for this program was to find a horribly designed interface for nothing more than a few registry tweaks. However, what I was presented with was a fairly simple-to-use interface that was actually appealing and useful...

[neoquote=#2.1 by Tobbe]Why shouldn't it work?[/neoquote] He didn't say it wouldn't work. He's just curious as to how much of a performance increase he'll actually get on his P3.

Downloaded it, looked at it... IMHO It's worthless (this is my opinion - it may not be shared by others...) The only thing good in it is the Memory recovery tool, and I already have one installed - it's called Cacheman from Outer Technologies.

as far as i'm concerned those so called "optimizers" are nothing but a waste of time, they do nothing but change some basic registry settings, which won't do much for your pc. if you have a slow pc no matter what you do, it will always be slow, unless you upgrade. bah... save your money.
#8 Sn00pY on 01 May 2003 - 20:57
yeah its pretty lame...

Tim kind of already said this near the end of his article but there are literally dozens of programs that do these things and are completely free. I would highly recommend that people do a search on Google or hotfiles.com or downloads.com for these kind of programs instead of paying this much for this 'speedupmypc' program.
#14 DigitalResource on 02 May 2003 - 00:48
weird thing: the program won't start anymore after a reboot! it just exits itself again after a split of a second. weird...
#15 hotrod on 02 May 2003 - 02:47
good review on a pretty useless app. but you get an "A" for effort
#16 pr0mpt on 02 May 2003 - 07:34
I think that these programs are mainly good for newbies, who like to have everything done for them, and are stupid ennough to pay for it the only 2 things I like are the bindable crash recovery key and the start-up program descriptions the rest is also done by most other [free] programs, and i don't see much need for it. Kudos on the review Tim, the only I disliked on that was no results on what a reboot did for your sys :
