MSN Messenger 6 Build 0250 Download

Advertisement (Why?)

After our exclusive screenshots and information it seems we weren't the only ones to get hold of a copy of MSN Messenger 6. WiNBETA grabbed a copy and Mess.be have kindly given us a download link. The original source seems to be a little known chinese site.

As we noted yesterday the only thing that doesn't work in this new build are the games. Unlike the Messenger 5 beta last year which we covered this Messenger signs in correctly and works a treat. Enjoy.

HoverDesk 3.0 MAJOR CHANGES :

XP 32 bits icons / PNG file support. Note: If a PNG file and a .ICO file are set for an object, then only the PNG file will be displayed - Windows 2000/XP only
Zoomer Objects with optional visual effects (recolor, rotation, alpha blending, dir/drive size content display) - Windows 2000/XP only
Bitstrip animation support (PNG files). Frames in file can be vertical or horizontal - Windows 2000/XP only
PNG support (auto-tiled to the screen width) for the taskbar background - Windows 2000/XP only
Optional true dropshadow for taskbar tiles with alpha blending support - Windows 2000/XP only
Caption for Tiles Objects can have 2 lines: On the caption, separate the lines by ## (ex : HoverDesk##3.0) - Windows 2000/XP only
Popupmenu Shell folders (desktop, my computer ...) now browseable - Windows all ver.
Optional true dropshadow below popupmenu (works with older themes) - Windows 2000/XP only
Optional fading effect instead of ellipsis (...) for labels on tiles - Windows all ver.
Optional dir. Content size: Displayed for Tiles Objects pointing to a directory/drive - Windows 2000/XP only
Window shade feature: you can roll up/down any window and/or display the tasklist popup menu by clicking on its title bar - Windows all ver.

Note that it's beta software so it may include some bugs. Be sure to backup any previous installation/themes

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm excited.... even though, I don't really want to use any of the new features. I hope I can turn them all off, but for some reason, I just want the most up to date software...

Is it stable? As in... can i use it as my default messenger (instead of msg 5) and does msgplus work on it?

msn plus not working, big problem! this is version is one step closer to ICQ's overdone program. well at least i still have Windows Messenger 5. please msn plus people make it work! we need you! one good thing. nice advance controls on the web cam.

I must admit its very nice, but I wish you could get rid of the border round chat windows like wmp does. It looks like they shouldnt be there because underneath the border is nice and curved. Apart from that its very nice.

What do you really need MSG Plus for though with this? YOu can save your message logs now automatically w/o the need for the add-in (at lesat thats what I used Plus for most often)....

humm...did you see the options msn plus had? the sounds, the quick emotions, the quick text, the personalize messages, the hiding of the ad banner, boss protection, etc. i used all of them it was/is great! once again please people at msn plus, make it work with MSN 6!

GUYS.. PLUS! works on my MSN 6.... It installed on 2k sp3 and 98 very nicely too.... ill post screenies if ya dont believe me

NIce! has anyone had trouble with audio, I just cannot make and audio conversation work, even when it is with someone I had one with MSN Mss 5 yesterday. Also, creative videocams come off as green. You seem to be on the rigth track MS, good job

The webcam and audio work together just fine (XP to XP). The one hitch was to get audio working, I had to pick "add audio" from the webcam options rather than using the audio button on the toolbar. One other interesting note: you can share your webcam with multiple chat windows simultaneously.

Is there anything just to get rid of the stupid tabs on the left pane for MSN6? I find I NEVER EVER use those stupid tabs to begin wit\' UTTERLY USELESS. I can use that extra space horizontally for the stupid ignorant people that make long ass names that stretch across the screen. Any help appreciated.

Click tools then options. In there go to the privacy tab and checkmark "This is a shared computer so don't display my tabs" and once you've done that they'll be gone.
