Asus’s V9900 Ultra graphics card is the latest high performance graphics card from this leading Taiwanese hardware manufacturer. Based upon NVIDIA’s latest GPU, the GeForce FX 5800 Ultra, the card aims to deliver the quality of CG cinematic films in real time form to the PC. NVIDIA’s GeForce FX chipset is undoubtedly an overdue technology in today’s video card market and now with ATI’s persistent success this once dominating graphics card company is finding it even harder to pull away from the competing edge of company’s such as ATI. Although that many fundamental reviews have already shown a large majority of the consumer market that ATI’s Radeon 9800 has an edge over a card that was expected to take the lead in the performance ratings lets not forget that the GeForce FX still holds many promising features over that of the Radeon 9800 which is simply a hyped up version of its predecessor, the Radeon 9700. Urrm

1. You still can't buy a 5900, it is better of course but what you mean 'stable' ? Just because the FX 5800 Ultra used noisy cooling didnt mean it suffered from instability - infact the GPU's are tested stable upto 100*c. But yes, i dont really know why anyone would choose a 5800 Ultra unless money really is burning a hole in their pockets etc.

2. The 5900 does not kick ATI's 9800 big time, its a slim lead 'depending' on the application. The AA implimentation is still inferior and it falls way behind now in 3Dmark03, now that NVIDIA's little ""optimizations"" have been discovered and stoped.

The DOOM3 benchmarks are pretty meaningless too - and as with 3dmark, if its an indication of its pixel shader performance i dont see how its a good choice for future titles. Couple that with the PRICE ratio and the 5900 is going to be about $399 (£399) and $499 (£499) for the Ultra version. Considering all this - i think the 5900 isnt going to enjoy much success.

Oh yes Mr. Admin, we will not post any comments.

Get off your high horse, you are in no position to tell other users where they can and can't post, and what they can and can't reply to.

Urr keep your skirt on. Calm down.

ATI for Features, Image Quality and Performance...
[/b]NVIDIA[/b] for Compatibility and Hype...

Think thats about the situation right now.

hmm...I don't think many folks still have much interest in the 5800 ultra..the 5900 looks more appealing for sure if you want to stick with nvidia. people can buy what they want I suppose.

<<As the first GPU to apply 0.13-micron semiconductor fabrication process>>

It's nice to see Nvidia being so honest right after the 3dmark scandal...
Quote this comment #7.1 Posted by RobertH on 26 May 2003 - 12:46
That is honest, the NV30 was the first. The only ATI product that uses 0.13u is the 9600 (RV350 i believe).
Quote this comment #7.2 Posted by Guspaz on 26 May 2003 - 19:17
First announced is not the same thing as first to market.

Pardon me, I think I'm going to go announce a 0.09-micron GPU so I can be the first to have one.

No it isnt, but then the NV30 arrived before the Radeon 9600 did so i dont see what your point is?
