Since the Windows Media Center Edition screenshots its been apparent that there is an updated version of Windows Media Player included. Its build number 3005 and Tech-Critic have it for download.

The download is actually a upgrade patch for people that are using Windows Media Player Version 2980 and up. It will upgrade to version 3005.

FIX: New Option to Suppress All Dialog Boxes in the Windows Media Player 9 Series OCX
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing to further ensure product quality. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next service pack that contains this fix.

ED - Its unclear if this build will be included with Service Pack 2

Finding patterns
Rather, the agency calls it a tool to capture "one person's experience in and interactions with the world" through a camera, microphone and sensors worn by the user.

More importantly, LifeLog's goal is to create breakthrough software that "will be able to find meaningful patterns in the timetable, to infer the user's routines, habits and relationships with other people, organizations, places and objects," according to Pentagon documents reviewed by The Associated Press.

DARPA's Jan Walker said LifeLog is intended for those who agree to be monitored. It could enhance the memory of military commanders and improve computerized military training by chronicling how users learn and then tailoring training accordingly, officials said.

This is only good I think if you're a developer.

What doesn't work correctly in Win2k3? Some details might be interesting.

--edit--
It updates the media player GUI only, no new WM9 codec related files. And lets see if it really doesn't work on Win2k3.

It fixes all previous bugs as well as providing a useful tool for developers.... a good interim update if you want to keep all your software shiny and new!!

Someone should do their homework. Tech Critik got this from http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/6/e/76e01626-58dc-42a5-9b27-725a3a9bcacf/WindowsMedia9-KB820772-x86-ENU.exe and made it their own.

It's exactly the same, not really "EXCLUSUVE" is it
#4.3 Tom Servo on 04 Jun 2003 - 13:25
Took it out of MCE? So why does that file on your site claim to be a hotfix?

Media Player seems a bit more responsive now for some reason
