You can only download it if you already have Beta 2 in the first place. And only beta testers can have the Beta 2.
With this remark you obviously stated that:
a) you have gotten Office 2003 Beta 2 illegally
b) you are not an official beta tester

- well apparently if you have office beta 2 then you are a BETA tester then.. HEHE... you aren't supposed to but why bother make a big deal outta it when they know people who illegally got office beta2 will still get the refresh anyways...

- Ever wondered why the link says officeint.microsoft.com and not officebeta.microsoft.com as it's supposed to?
-
#4.4 Posted by outofcoffee on 15 Jun 2003 - 10:48
- yea, same goes for the msnint.com site..
i got flamed by an MVP on one of the MS newsgroups for asking about the "download the MSN 6 beta today!" link

- Yeah I'm so confused, If I click update in word 2003 beta (version 1 I guess) it takes me to www.officebeta.microsoft.com update page, but then it says there arn't any updates. When I used the link above it needed to install a different update engine but then ther it is the beta 2 update and a couple of others, should I install these is this a bug, why is the international site different fomr the beta site, it looks the same, can anyone help!!!!!!

#5.1 Posted by SHoTTa35 on 14 Jun 2003 - 14:40
- you gotta use office beta 2, beta 1 is dropped long ago and they don't support it no more so why would they add updates for a dead os. This isn't office 2000 then office 2002. You can't have the old version and new version and expect it to work with both. If you read office beta site it says Beta 1 users MUST upgrade to beta 2
-
#5.2 Posted by j2000wall on 14 Jun 2003 - 14:47
- Ok fine how do I update to beta 2, if I use the link from word it says all my products are up to date, surely they would have left a not saying oh go here to update to beta 2... Besides I thought the beta 2 refresh id brand new, up til now theres only been the beta 1, and why isn't the download for the beta 2 refresh working?
-
#5.3 Posted by Jason on 14 Jun 2003 - 14:56
- If you want beta 2 you either had to be an official tester or oder a copy from :
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/
you only pay delivery if your a non beta tester, which is worth it for 15 CD's
Beta 2 refresh isn't working as its not available yet, the beta test newsgroups will let us know when it is. -
#5.4 Posted by j2000wall on 14 Jun 2003 - 14:58
- So there isn't going to be/has been a simple update that takes you from beta 1 to beta 2, I thought thats what all this was, so you have to pay again to get a second disk and make a fresh install?
-
#5.5 Posted by Jason on 14 Jun 2003 - 14:59
- You only pay delivery costs for Beta 2 if your not an official tester and you do get 15 CD's !!!!
-

QUOTE (#5.4) So there isn't going to be/has been a simple update that takes you from beta 1 to beta 2, I thought thats what all this was, so you have to pay again to get a second disk and make a fresh install?
yup.. you gotta.. If you were in the beta (and not the customer preview program) then you would have gotten your beta 2 cds. So yes you have to have bought another copy.
Hehe, i didn't tell you this but download beta 2 somewhere and use your beta key that MS gave you with beta 1

- if you installed the refresh which was released a while back then you cant install
-
#7.1 Posted by Jason on 14 Jun 2003 - 14:58
- But who would want that 2nd rate "dog food" build, the newsgroups said it wasn't the official refresh so you had to be a fool to install that.

#22 Posted by JaggedFlame on 14 Jun 2003 - 20:20
- By "Not yet available" that means that the Refresh shows up in the download list, but it aborts when it starts to download, right? That's what happens to me.
-
#22.1 Posted by SHoTTa35 on 14 Jun 2003 - 20:24
- yeah, that's what is happening to everyone if you noticed...
-
#22.2 Posted by JaggedFlame on 15 Jun 2003 - 02:37
- I posted before a lot of people posted their problems, so whatever.
Besides, most people just said "it didn't work." I'm just clarifying.

- I received my beta kit from microsoft, so how do I access the refresh. They sent me a survey but there was no beta id in it the getting started guide I have gone from cover to cover and still cannot find a beta id.
Please help. If I am unable to access the refresh then I would have wasted my time with the Beta.
