- Man, I guess I'll have to wait, I'm sure their servers are going to get swamped also!
-
#2 Posted by SHoTTa35 on 20 Jun 2003 - 20:00
- yeah, that's why they only did 15,000 i bet... offereing good speeds for 600,000 users is a crazy idea!

- Personally if this is true I find it an insult to those testers who aren't selected to recieve the update "early", how the hell can they select 15,000 testers out of 600,000.
-
#4 Posted by xStainDx on 20 Jun 2003 - 20:01
- I'm an official tester. I haven't gotten any email yet that anything is availible for download.

- Betaplace.com isn't even responding for me. "Cannot find server" is all I get, no matter how many times I refresh it. I guess MS seriously underestimated the demand for the Refresh and didn't allocate enought resources to cover for it.

- "Microsoft have confirmed" as in Microsoft as a body of people. Looks like YOU are the one in need of a grammar course.

When do they learn to use P2P to avoid these situations?
A private and secure P2P network isn't hard to setup... They even have a download client, just give it some Bit-Torrent features.

- How do i download the updates. Im in the Beta program but don't think ive got a BetaID for the BetaPlace site and i never received an email about the update. Will it be available to all users soon?
-
#63.2 Posted by AdamField on 21 Jun 2003 - 12:52
- If you dont have a beta id or an email, then you're not on the beta program
-

-
#64 Posted by tmaxxtigger on 21 Jun 2003 - 12:16
- If you have your downloads in the Transfer Manager, just start a different download to get the TM up, then you can resume your Tech Refresh downloads...!
-
#65 Posted by Germano on 21 Jun 2003 - 12:30
- «You are a wonderfully dedicated group of committed testers and we thank you
for it! Many of you began downloading the Beta 2 Technical Refresh as soon
as you received the mail indicating it was available. We are very excited
about the Beta 2 Technical Refresh and are anxious to gather feedback from
you as you begin using the product!
Unfortunately, with 15,000 of you out there in the technical beta, and the
popularity of the Office 2003 beta product, demand has saturated the segment
of the network connecting to the Betaplace servers tonight. Our IT
operations team took the Betaplace servers offline sometime after midnight
PST in order to restore network performance across the impacted systems. We
have some other options for getting the Beta 2 Technical Refresh out to you
as soon as possible. But we need you to bear with us, as we must remove the
download content for a period of time in order to bring the Betaplace
servers back online and maintain network stability.
Thank you for your continued patience, we'll keep you updated on progress.
####### (MSFT)»

#66 Posted by ronaldinho2003 on 21 Jun 2003 - 13:31
- If you had already started your download before Betaplace went down,
you can now continue the file transfer.
Just start
"C:WINDOWSDownloaded Program FilesTransferMgr.exe"
and you should be fine.
