Thanks very much to kidventus for submitting this

Today on MSN's Money Plus site MSN describes how users can upgrade to MSN 9 and Microsoft Money 2004 for synchronization purposes. It seems the page is a placeholder for things to come. Trying to upgrade to MSN 9 from the link within Internet Explorer or MSN 8.5 gives an error.

From this page it's obvious MSN 9 will debut sooner than we expected. MSN Explorer 9 is currently in internal alpha/beta testing and is expected to be announced within 2 weeks to the MSN Explorer 8 beta testers.

MSN Explorer 9 promises tighter intergration into Windows and a look at what might be coming with MSN Explorer 10 (x) for the next Windows Operating System, Longhorn.

If you look around, you can probably get deals where you get Money Standard for free. I must have at least two free copies of Money 2003 Standard.

The alphas have been going on for a very long time already. I started seeing MSN 9 things floating around a couple of months ago.

QUOTE
MSN Explorer 9 promises tighter intergration into Windows

Do we really need that? IE is already as tight as possible.
#11.1 creamhackered on 22 Jun 2003 - 00:20
Tight as in intergrates into Windows Explorer, imagine MSNs sidebar intergrating more into explorer....here comes longhorn

Has anyone actually been able to find any product info on Money 2004?
#12.1 prick on 22 Jun 2003 - 00:14
would be nice if money 2003 had australian taxes included too
#13 nathanintu on 22 Jun 2003 - 00:01
Well it would be nice if there were to be an Australian version of MSN8 befor they event think about version 9. takeing to long.
#14 kidventus on 22 Jun 2003 - 00:54
Remember, MSN & Money 2002 had sync ability before they made MSN 8 pay only. Also, MSN Billpay does integrate with Money 2002 & 2003 but you have to enter a special code.

Found this .doc regarding MSN9. Its on Microsoft's site as a download.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/1/c/41cede8e-0e2a-4172-a517-4a6c3722d75b/Pocket%20MSN%20Services%20Network%20Overview.doc

Summary - This document briefly describes the network service required to support Pocket MSN. The service described in this document will be released as part of MSN 9.

It outlines some kinda intresting ideas.

I should clarify that ppl who don't want to subscribe to MSN 9 will be able to subscribe directly to Pocket MSN with carriers that support it.

for those who don't know what this is...we're talking about a very rich mobile application for Windows Powered Pocket PCs, and Smartphones. Giving users one-tap access to real-time MSN Hotmail, MSN Messenger, MSN Alerts, and MSN Mobile content. This is a platform. Other content modules can easily be plugged in.

Do any of you remember the Xbox Live "vision" videos with a player in Japan sending a request to play alert to a player in the Ukraine even tho that player in the Ukraine was "offline" insofar as Xbox Live was concerned. This is that platform that Xbox Live will be able to tap into with their own client, or module.

Take a look around http://www.moonport.com for more MSN 9 things. (if you know where to look there)
#16.1 Trade Wind on 22 Jun 2003 - 06:43
eep. This is how next-www.moonport.com got locked out. If ppl wanna post the urls that is fine, but don't cry when you suddenly get a 401 error. ;-) At least you didn't post specific urls. lol

then again...come to think of it...the INT environment messenger cluster didn't get pulled. Neither did they block 'underground' 6.0 clients from logging on like they did v5 last year.

Perhaps different approaches with different teams. Last year saw the MSN 8 subscription service welcome/sign-up site & the next version of MSN.com get pulled by too much publiclity.
#16.3 JaggedFlame on 22 Jun 2003 - 21:09
When is the next version of MSN.com anyway?
#16.4 Trade Wind on 22 Jun 2003 - 22:54
October per usual AFAIK for MSN.com & My MSN...timed with the release of the MSN 9 Service.
#17 Knight' on 22 Jun 2003 - 09:40
Why can't they wait for 2004? They always seem to release stuff like this months early.
#18 Galley_SimRacer on 22 Jun 2003 - 15:20
MS Money is typical Microsoft bloatware. It does 1,000 things that I don't need. I use Account Express. It's method of reconciling is so simple, it's brilliant!

Money 2003 RULEZ!!

I use about 80% of all features in my Deluxe edition and it is awesome. Lifetime Planner, budgeting, etc - way cool for putting your mind at ease more or less about financials. I run 401k, stocks and all sorts of other stuff though it, it all connects to everythig else - it is very powerful and cool.

I guess it is all about what you need. Can't wait for 2004 version, it has been getting just better in last few years.
