Online search engine Google introduced several new gadgets in its popular toolbar for Web browsers, hoping to build even greater brand loyalty amid heightened competition.
The new software out Thursday for the toolbar includes a feature that automatically blocks pop-up ads, as well a program that automatically fills out Internet forms seeking a customer's name and address. The function that fills in forms offers an option to store credit card numbers too, but the information is encrypted on the hard drive of a user's computer instead of Google's computers, for security and privacy reasons.
The toolbar also enables users to transfer online content to Internet journals known as Weblogs, or "blogs," by pressing a button.

Rick Finkelstein, president and chief operating officer of Universal Pictures, said he did not expect this episode to significantly alter the studio's marketing procedures. "We are constantly evaluating our internal security measures, and we are always seeing areas where we can improve our security," he said. "This will have a significance, but we don't want to blow it out of proportion."
Gonzalez entered his guilty plea to United States Magistrate Judge Gabriel Gorenstein. He is scheduled to be sentenced September 26.
An insurance underwriter, Gonzalez told the judge that he knew what he was doing was wrong. Asked by reporters afterward whether he liked the movie, Gonzalez said: "I haven't even watched it."

what thursday is that tho?
It's only spyware if you ask it to be. You get the clear option when you download it to get the advanced or standard version.
The advanced sends Google the URL you are visiting, which then in turn sends back information on the site, it's PageRank, category etc.
The standard version does not send Google the URL, but as Google will then have no idea what page you are viewing, it won't give you the PageRank etc info.
It's your choice and you are able to switch between the modes at any time.
I also believe their privacy policy says that the URL is immediately deleted from their database as soon as the information is sent back to you.
I also like how people fail to read about how this stuff works and immediately label it spyware.
