Cheers Hilbert from Guru of 3D for this fantastic review of Gigabyte's Radeon 9800 Pro with 128 MB DDR memory. And what a nice powerhouse this card is. A highly efficient and programmable graphics card with a computational speed that is simply breathtaking. Overclocking wise however it performed bad. Here's a clip:
It's been a while since the R300 core from ATI was released yet this silicon is still doing good and excellent numbers. It's quite funny to see what has happened to ATI over the past two years, the Radeon 8500 was a true success story and already had to make NVIDIA wonder. Then came the revolutionary R300 which has been dominating the market ever since. And even with the new NV35 (GeForce FX 5900) this core still remains to be close to NVIDIA's latest.

Changelog:
Diskeeper build 430 adds support for Windows Server 2003, and includes performance and reliability improvements to the boot-time defragmentation engines.

Please Note: On a small number of Windows XP systems, running a boot-time defragmentation may result in a Windows message being displayed after the post-defragmentation reboot indicating that the system did not start up properly. This is sometimes followed by a CHKDSK operation, which finds no disk errors. We are investigating the cause of this message, but at this time no system that has displayed this startup screen or run a post-defragmentation CHKDSK has demonstrated any problems. You can simply use the default "Start Windows Normally" option, or let the timer time-out. Your system will then boot up normally.

Also Note: The Diskeeper NTFS boot-time engines have been modified in this build to verify they have exclusive access to the volume being defragmented. This change ensures that no other drivers or services can modify the volume while the boot-time defragmentation is running. If the volume cannot be locked, an error message appears describing this and the boot-time defragmentation will not run.

Is it just me or does the GigaByte logo remind you of the Commodore computer logo?

GeForce FX are better value, only a few fps behind - but a hell of a lot cheaper..! no-one really needs those extra few fps, because they're not noticed.

That's why I always stick to Nvidia cards.

Never mind.

face it: ati is making better products its true: there so close to nvidia and they dont even cheat!
#7.1 vacs on 16 Jul 2003 - 22:03
don't even cheat?

have you been sleaping the last few days?
ATI got caught in 3dmark03, 3dmark2001SE and UT2003. It's only a matter of time until the next cheat is discovered.

BTW, don't you find it very strange that with each Catalyst revision, Radeons are improving in GLexcess, a benchmark which currently on GF FXs hold the top spots? Don't tell me about generic OpenGL optimizations

Yeah, I'm considering a move from Nvidia to ATI for my next video card.

Specially now that Nvidia have started a heavy handed approach to third party drivers. They gave Omegacorner loads of hassle about his driver sets, and told Driverheaven to remove them from their site.

ATI on the other hand are welcoming ppl to help support their drivers, and are improving all the time.
#8.1 vacs on 16 Jul 2003 - 22:05
wrong, the omega driver will no longer be available because the creator of the omega drivers does no longer want to make them for nvidia cards. No one forced him.

blah its nvidia for life for me
