I just got a mail from MSN Groups informing me that the calendar feature will be removed for non-subscribers. Much like the limitation of the inbox storage when MSN Hotmail became a member service, non subscribers will still be able to view a calendar but not edit it. The mail is below:
This message is to inform you that the calendar feature of MSN Groups will no longer be available as a free service beginning August 7, 2003.

To provide better service and usability, MSN Groups will begin using a subscription-based MSN Calendar in place of the current one. We think your members will find the new Calendar much easier to understand and navigate. Non-subscribers will still be able to view the calendar and appointments, but only MSN subscribers will have the opportunity to add and change Calendar events.

To take advantage of all the great features of MSN 8 and to have complete access to the updated MSN Groups Calendar, you must sign up for MSN 8 at http://join.msn.com?pgmarket=en-us.

Sincerely,
The MSN Groups Team

Changelog:
Diskeeper build 430 adds support for Windows Server 2003, and includes performance and reliability improvements to the boot-time defragmentation engines.

Please Note: On a small number of Windows XP systems, running a boot-time defragmentation may result in a Windows message being displayed after the post-defragmentation reboot indicating that the system did not start up properly. This is sometimes followed by a CHKDSK operation, which finds no disk errors. We are investigating the cause of this message, but at this time no system that has displayed this startup screen or run a post-defragmentation CHKDSK has demonstrated any problems. You can simply use the default "Start Windows Normally" option, or let the timer time-out. Your system will then boot up normally.

Also Note: The Diskeeper NTFS boot-time engines have been modified in this build to verify they have exclusive access to the volume being defragmented. This change ensures that no other drivers or services can modify the volume while the boot-time defragmentation is running. If the volume cannot be locked, an error message appears describing this and the boot-time defragmentation will not run.

In order to suck more money from you, MSN Groups will restrict a feature to people who pay to give you the illusion that you don't have to pay.

See, the calendar feature in msn groups is much like that in Outlook: we can't have people not splashing out money on Micro$oft Office now can we?

So something that doesnt come into effect for 3 weeks is old? I think he saw my original post when Microsoft announced it in April, this however is as it reads. An announcement released today. so if anyone is being a retard here its Nodiaque's original post that is against our ruleset.

Seeing as you are confused at this I decided to explain in detail.

FYI because you brought this further to my attention the poster has now been warned so you can see your post wasn't in vain.

Thanks.

You have a point, but there's no need in calling him a retard, that's kinda harsh...

Just stating my opinion.

Well, raptorized.com is my website and I don't call my users retards...

If I do, it's only jokingly... I mean, we're still human beings right? I'm not saying I disagree with his point, I'm just not too fond of the way he expressed it, that's all.

ya, but I received like 20 emails by hotmail from m$ stating that for about 6 months, since february or march, I don't really recall which one so this is a really old news and I don't see why you are saying that in pm:
QUOTE
If you had read the article throughout you would see and understand that this announcement was made today

It's a shame that I didn't save those junk email from m$ since I don't really care about keeping them, but it seems that I will start to do it.

Maybe the difference between you and me is that i'm not being anal about it.

SEE! That was sarcasm!

But still offensive. That was my point. Look, I have nothing against you Neobond
I just think that was not really nice. You could just have PM-ed him about it or replied something among the lines of "That annoucement was made today, read the article carefully, it only makes sense to talk about it."

But then again, who am I to say this... it's your website after all, you decide how you manage stuffs, I was merely stating my opinion

Well someone's gotta make money, although I highly doubt they are going to make HUGE profits from charging for this calendar. Like really!

I don't use that feature anyways...
Quote this comment #7.1 Posted by TheDeputy on 16 Jul 2003 - 16:31
Good point how many people use that anyway? With programs such as outlook who really needs this?
Quote this comment #7.2 Posted by Nodiaque on 19 Jul 2003 - 04:28

I swear if they keep this up there will be no features left for someone who can't afford their "Premium" Service. It's Bullsh1t - they make enough money as it is. They can support what little free services they have left.

FUK YOU MICROSOFT!

No, they don't, genius. In fact, had you bothered to take two minutes to research, you might have found out that they're losing a lot of money on MSN and Hotmail. $97 million, as a matter of fact.

Swear at them all you want. It just makes you look even stupider.

"stupider" eh?
