- I regret ever updating some of my machines to WMP9.
If it runs as badly as it does in XP, how will it run on another OS.
Palllleeeeasee. Warning to Mac folk, steer clear.

- On the three machines I updated, it doesn't recognize some of the codecs it recognized by previous versions. Some files that played with no problems im MP7 or MP8 cause instability in MP9. In general it crashes at will when scrolling the time bar.
The fix so far was is using the much older media player as the default player.
C/Program FilesWindows/Media Player/mplayer2.exe
I associate the file types that cause the most problems to play with it.

- Might want to give Media Player Classic a try. You can play almost everything with it, even QuickTime and Real media (provided you have the codecs installed)

- Yeah right. MPlayer plays already everything you throw at it (including asf, wmv and mov). Why would MS want to have a Linux mediaplayer?

- i didn't say I wanted a linux wmp9 port i just said that I heard of rumors is all. I love mplayer.....wmp9 is too bloated anyways. Thats all.

- A) Microsoft was working on IE for *nix not long ago IIRC, they did pull the plug though so the point is moot.
B) It's not like Microsoft went around asking conent delivery companies which OS they use, they chose the one that could protect them best. It just so happens that company uses Linux servers, I doubt Microsoft cared.

- WTF, why is microsoft making alot of their apps available for mac, not that i mind but i don't see many mac software going over to windows, and when their is, its usually not 1/3 of what it is on the mac, like quicktime player
and seriously the name is "windows media player" ment to be runned on windows, what are they going to call it now, "windows and mac media player"
-
#14.1 Posted by Skyfrog on 07 Sep 2003 - 03:33
- I would imagine that they are going to continue to call it Windows Media Player, just as they always have with the previous Mac versions.
-
#14.2 Posted by aaron901 on 07 Sep 2003 - 04:23
- because they have to make it. there's no other software that plays wmp9 on Mac.
and i hope you know there's a file format called windows media, wmp plays it so it's called windows media player. just like mp3 player plays mp3, makes sense now? btw it's just a name. get over it. -
