Microsoft has shown the official release date of MSN Messenger 6.1 to be the 23rd of October!

The widely anticipated next version of the popular 6 release promises a number of new features and games most of which can be found on MSN's International Site But remember that Microsoft like to tweak their release dates so I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Microsoft will offer customers running the MSJVM several tools and options for transition and migration. As those options are built, the primary focus will be minimizing customer inconvenience.

The transition and migration options Microsoft offers will be customized to address the needs and circumstances of different types of customers. Depending on the specific customer situation, recommended courses of action may range from doing nothing at this time to identifying and addressing a customer's MSJVM dependency.

I hope it has the ability to colorize the text in the IM chat window, and the toaster alert also. I also noticed Hexic is already in the 6.0 list. Anyway. Can't wait until the final.

Very interesting. That date (give or take a day) is the day new versions of MSN's main internet software come up. I'm looking forward to it.

Uhhh... half the "new" features in 6.1 are already available in 6.0

custom emoticons? changing your pic? live send-receive webcam?

I'm already doing all that with 6.0

MSN Messenger 6.1 is already for download in Australia. I followed the like above and it took me to the NineMSN website, where it said download the latest version 6.1 Even tells me about the new features in 'this' version and requirements.

It's on almost every section of the NineMSN website, 'MSN Messenger 6.1'.

Folks, seems like the Australian NineMSN Messenger site is screwed. It's still version 6.0 that is actually downloaded. Maybe their just getting a bit ahead of themselves.
