Mobile operator adds music video content to 3G network.

Mobile operator 3 has signed a deal with music TV channel MTV to distribute music videos on its video-enabled third-generation network.

Initially, customers of 3 will be able to access music news reports, live performance footage, and music videos. Tailored clips from MTV's own programming, such as Jackass and Dirty Sanchez, will also be available.

MTV said it would provide 3 with four packages of localised content: Daily News, What's Hot, Best of MTV and MTV Live Lounge.

Daily News runs on weekdays and features showbiz news and gossip; What's Hot includes reviews of live performances and videos; Best of MTV uses clips from MTV's own programming and MTV Live Lounge provides archive live performance footage.

"We're a new network, doing things that have never been possible on a mobile before," said Graeme Oxby, marketing director at 3 UK, in a statement.

"Three is all about video mobile - in a nutshell, sound and vision at the same time - and music videos bring alive the possibilities of this technology for music fans."
