Even developers who are 100 percent committed to the Microsoft platform are complaining that its inherent weaknesses are killing them.
There's a love-in coming to California next week, but it won't be grooving along in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district. Instead, it'll be headquartered in a boxy convention center in downtown Los Angeles. The event will be Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference, where thousands of programmers who create Windows applications and drivers will schmooze, share tips and learn what changes the software company is planning for its next major Windows operating system release. That, of course, will be "Longhorn," which will ship sometime in 2005 or 2006.
Attendees are expecting to receive a CD-ROM containing an early, prebeta release of the graphical operating system, plus previews of new SQL Server and Visual Studio technology and other stuff. But love is a complex emotion, and there are signs that the ties that bind Microsoft and its developer community are undergoing strain. Even developers who are 100 percent committed to the Microsoft platform are complaining that its inherent weaknesses are killing them—and the enterprises that use the applications the developers create.

Note: In order for you to successfully run the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer (RMA) Beta 2 please first install the Windows Rights Management client (RM). Installing the RM client places software on your computer that allows it to respond to requests for licenses and keys. The RMA will not correctly run without installing the RM client before the RMA.

This post is just begging for flamage.
Gotta go!
You mean Unix...
Gee, I wonder how long it will take for this to make its way to the internet? LOL

It would make sense, as most Linux distros are multi-CDROM. Of course you do get a hell of a lot more out of a Linux distro!
But, I think that they will release on CD-ROM. Just like thier installs defaulted to lower VGA resolutions and only 256 color for a LONG time to maintain maximum compatability....
why cant we all just get along, if you hate microsoft DON'T BLODY USE A PC
Actually they've been criticized for not having one every year
They have released 4 Major Updates (including the initial OSX release) in UNDER 4 years.
If you don't like microsoft, feel free to use a PC, just don't use microsoft products on it, I use Linux without any microsoft products and it runs better then it ever did when it ran windows on it...
I still recommend PCs to people, but I don't recommend using microsoft products on one as it just degrades performance...
enough is enough, if it was not for microsoft and apple we would all be stuck in the dark ages
So was this a ploy to get people talking and Longhorn and all saying no no no.... they can not put this on hold and then announce it's back on track again.... MS you are the man when it comes to scare mongering....
Uh... when??
