Sources close to mighty Intel Corporation continue to indicate further changes in plans of the Santa Clara, California-based semiconductor giant in addition to already unveiled adjustments in desktop and server roadmaps. It now transpires that the company’s intentions concerning mobile products next year will also be a little bit different from what was reported earlier. Apparently, Intel will offer a bit broader line of its mobile processors powered by low-power Pentium M architecture, deploy 533MHz PSB in late 2004, and will delay its advanced Alviso platform until the fourth quarter of next year.
The launch of highly-anticipated Pentium M processor with 2MB L2 cache code-named Dothan produced using 90nm technology is projected to take place in the Q1 2004 without any substantial products. The first 90nm mobile chips for professional sector will be available at 1.60GHz, 1.70GHz and 1.80GHz speeds early in 2004. In the Q3 Intel adds 2.0GHz Pentium M “Dothan” processor into its array of CPUs and in the Q4 the company plans to offer a new family of Dothan chips with speed beyond 2.0GHz and featuring 533MHz Quad Pumped Bus. According to the current plans, Intel wants to offer 1.60GHz, 1.73GHz, 1.87GHz, 2.0GHz and 2.13GHz processors featuring its new 533MHz FSB by the end of 2004.
