Microsoft ISA Server 2004 Beta To Begin Early Next Year

Today Microsoft updated its' 'Internet Security & Acceleration Server' page with details on the upcoming test of ISA Server 2004, Codename 'Stringray'. In his keynote at COMDEX Las Vegas 2003 Bill Gates committed to delivering technology innovations that help customers improve their overall security, starting with a new version of ISA Server which he demonstrated. A few details concerning the application have been posted, and are available below.

What is Microsoft ISA Server 2004?
ISA Server 2004 is Microsoft Corp.’s next-generation enterprise firewall, virtual private network (VPN), and Web cache solution. ISA Server 2004 takes application-layer filtering, simplified management integration, and fast Web access to new levels, making it a “must consider” for any organization looking to augment its existing security infrastructure.

When will Microsoft ISA Server 2004 be available?
Customers and partners can get a jump on experiencing the benefits of ISA Server 2004 by participating in the public beta program, which kicks off in early 2004.

Here's what's new and changed in AIMutation v1.1:

  • Added AIMutation Commands
  • Added option for real time logging
  • Added a Log Manager item to the tab menu
  • Added option to "snap" the buddy list to screen/window edges
  • Added Log Manager menu item under the File menu in IM & Chat windows
  • Added option to log buddy events (sign on/off away/return). The event log is displayed in the Log Manager
  • Added options to log IMs & Chats seperatly
  • Added option to log images/files/sounds in IMs
  • Added option to stack tabs
  • Added option to prevent new IMs from stealing focus
  • Changed how ctrl+tab works, ctrl+shift+tab too
  • Fixed the disappearing tab icons
  • Middle mouse button click on a tab now closes it
  • F2 key on the buddy list now initiates alias editing on the selected item
  • Updated the log manager so logs can be viewed either by day or session
  • Fixed the flickering file transfer meter when transferring files via DC and using skins.
  • IM & Chat Flashing notification option in AIMutation now overrides the setting in AIM
  • Changed the way sessions in the Log Manager are displayed
