Testers of Windows Update 4 have been notified this evening that a new ISO image of the Windows Security Update CD has been posted to Betaplace.com

In an email to current testers, the Windows Update Beta team thanked all its current testers and issued this new ISO version to them. The new version includes minor fixes from relevant bugs that testers have filed. The email ended with a simple "We're almost there...".

Windows Security Update CD is expected to ship at the beginning of December 2003.

i don't get why they are doing this now.. before sp2 comes out..

does this mean we will still be waiting quite a while for sp2?

(ya i know this cd is not just for xp)

Maybe once SP2 goes live they will update their cd with that.

Anyways, What exactly is new on this update?

it's a nice solution when reinstalling windows xp. you just have to download one package of updates, burn it onto cd and you're set. without running the annoying WU over and over again

Guess MS is taking customer service and making it the customer convenient to another level

After installing the last one, I still had about 14 recommended and 8 critical updates on WindowsUpdate, so I hope they will update the package with these. One thing is that it does not included .net, which is strange...
Quote this comment #9.1 Posted by Trajik 2600 on 20 Nov 2003 - 14:40
Does the CD have recommended updates or just critical? If they're just critical updates that would explain .Net Framework not being on it, but I dunno.. I haven't seen nor touched the CD.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, pitty since I thought the idea was to prevent a large download, and extra few meg on the CD would not hurt anyone!
Quote this comment #9.3 Posted by carlito on 21 Nov 2003 - 00:45
yeah the cd's only 300 megs, so they can fit like another 400 meg of stuff on it if they wanted to
