Network Install:

345.4MB
#7.1 EWC on 24 Feb 2004 - 14:35
It's large in size because the network install file contains the updates for Media Center Edition, Media Center Edition 2004 and updates Tablet PC to version 2004. It will only install these vpdates on PCs running XPMCE or XPTPC. Express is going to be the way to go for the average end user.

can someone hook me up?
#8.1 vetRadish™ on 24 Feb 2004 - 01:04
No, only legit SP2 testers are allowed to download it via WindowsBeta.

And links to it will not be tolerated at Neowin.

How come the stories about BootSkin and InfoPath SP1 are gone now?
(1 reply) #10 squad417 on 24 Feb 2004 - 01:09
I was wondering, will sp2 included hotfixes for patches released from now till the release? That would be sad, having the latest sp, and you already have to dl. And what has been ms' history regarding patches made close to the release date of a service pack?
#10.1 xStainDx on 24 Feb 2004 - 01:25
If the KB article stats Pre-SP2 Fix. Then it will be included in SP2. If a KB article says Pre-SP3 then it'll be apart of the next service pack.

(1 reply) #12 corn`` on 24 Feb 2004 - 01:52
why would you slipstream a beta service pack...?

#12.1 bovineone on 24 Feb 2004 - 18:38
because as a beta tester, you should be helping to test all aspects of the code, including the ability to slipstream it successfully.
#13 acidic-e- on 24 Feb 2004 - 01:56
makes things easier for you in the long run. but damn this is 133meg bigger then the beta 1 release. That's alot of stuff to add.
#14 thexfile on 24 Feb 2004 - 02:01
If the service packs get any bigger it would be called LonghornXP
#15 bach_m on 24 Feb 2004 - 02:02
is the change log out yet?? i cant seem to find one dated later than jan 15
#16 I8PP on 24 Feb 2004 - 02:09
Horray! Now we testers can be all updated (hopefully) with those recent critical IE updates and the ASN.1 thingamajig.

THIS IS NOT AN ALL INCLUSIVE LIST

Many, many more things have been fixed besides whats on this list, but this list represents the common things seen and reported during the beta. It's meant as a reference so you know the time you spend testing makes a difference and so you can help confirm that the fix is "good" and truly resolved the issue. Everything on this list was reported by a beta site.

Well duh... If you create something two + years ago and now just update it w/o changning that its going to be out-of-date..

#23.1 Jugalator on 24 Feb 2004 - 14:01
Hehe, you gotta love those brain dead things like "how does antivirus help protect my computer" etc

But it's of course not MS fault, they're just doing the duty delivering an OS to a whole lot of stupid people. Not saying all are, but quite many.
#24 jimbo11883 on 24 Feb 2004 - 08:42
I'm installing it now, the screen shot of the Security Center is cool.

So why did one of the staff (Voodoo) posted the download link, which is hosted on the NEOWIN server?

You amuse me.

This may not be the best place to ask (will start a thread later perhaps), but how would those of you testing this release compare the new built-in firewall to something along the lines of zonealarm?
#29.1 virtorio on 25 Feb 2004 - 04:05
I still like ZoneAlarm better. I like ZoneAlarm how it allows me to choose which programs I want to have internet access, where as the Windows one doesn't seem to do that.
#30 mipra on 25 Feb 2004 - 00:33
I got to say one thing...this build is one hell of a solid one...never had any problem. Unless...my Weatherbug doesnt work anymore. Moreover, I cannot put smilies into OE using Getsmile anymore
#31 802.11 on 25 Feb 2004 - 00:43
