MSN are almost ready to let loose their next revision of MSN Messenger 6, version 6.2. Although this version won't be a heavy upgrade like 6.0, there will still be minor improvements and features for users. Messenger 7.0 isn't due till later this year and is widely expected to be intergrated into MSN 10 - the next generation MSN Explorer.
As for Messenger 6.2, the following will be added/improved upon:
Animated Display Pictures (still unsure whether there will be animated custom emoticons)
Launch Site renamed "Fun & Games"
Fun & Games adds: Music Exchange (thought to be like the 3° way of sharing music)
Shared Browsing Enabled for MSN Subscribers
MSN Messenger "Connection Troubleshooter" (automatically solve many network connectivity problems)
Seems like it will be an interesting upgrade all round whether you're a current MSN Premium subscriber or not. We'll bring you any updated information and possibly a sneak peek look at Messenger 6.2 as and when we find out anything more. Messenger 6.2 is currently expected to be released worldwide on the 8th April.

The 32 bit version supports Drag&Drop from and to explorer/desktop, delete to the recycle bin, and Explorer style context menus/property sheets. FTP servers on the Internet can be accessed like local drives.A configurable directory hotlist (bookmarks) and history list make directory navigation easier.
The sync function allows to synchronize two complete directory trees, and the compare function shows the difference of two binary or text files highlighted side by side. The new parallel port connection works between any combination of Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT 4, Windows 2000/XP, Windows 3.1 and even DOS through a separate server.
NOTE: The update is still free for all registered users (also of Windows Commander)
What's New in This Release:
- Fixed: With file panels above each other, the mouse wheel may have scrolled the wrong window
- Fixed: Ctrl+Q on drive in "My Computer" turned off quick view permanently

I'm gonna put that on the Screen Saver of my cell phone right now!
what's the url for microsofts internal msn site?

Still, there is no reason for MS to take off the animated emotions..
After all, their Messenger is superior.
amen to that
The GUI is one of the reasons I use it.
I haven't found any "bloat," however, I did find the most feature rich messenger out there. Microsoft just needs to add more features.
it must be tough not knowing how to turn off toolbars and removing background pictures
if i wanted i could make the GUI look exactly like windows messenger 5 in about 5 clicks
Another possibility is that the MS bashers refuse to use MSN because it's made by MS, despite it being superior lol
No transfer limit. You can transfer as fast as your connections can handle it. If you're sending a file to someone on your LAN it can *usually* detect that so uses the LAN rather than the Internet...
Looks like they removed everthing on the internal site...

Everything but downloading the client works there
Will Orange be the colour MSN changes to after making everything Blue?
And don't count on animated display pics. Although I admit it would be tres cool.
sorry.. i got something in my throat
LOL no, it will only stream music that your a relistenning to.
I wouldn't want it to be allowed as it was a beta product and then they labeled it stable at 0.74 when it crashed daily on my PC.
Note: in order for many of the features I listed above to work in MSN Messenger, you must have Windows Messenger v4.7 bld2009 or later installed.
If you're into no-frills, no-fluff, straight-forward instant messaging, use Windows Messenger. If you like personalization, a couple of extra features and a more colorful UI, use MSN Messenger.
And until we actually see v6.2, consider the feature list as "rumor"
