- When I click the link, I get the following error:

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope you will be joining a chat on Microsoft.com soon!
It seems that MS thinks that people that are currently using an OS other than Windows, shouldn't switch to Longhorn. -

- I noticed that too, so I didn't bother with the chat.
It's kind of funny, since I've seen a whole lot of cross-browser chats before. Not surprising either, since they should be able to do the major part of the job server-side and not rely on their users using specific browsers... -

- yeah I have noticed that too. all the Longhorn videos on the dev. site do not work on anything but the windows ver. of WMP9. You would think they would want to make this info open to everyone in hops of getting none Windows users to buy their new OS. I guess they are not into marketing to anyone but their existing user base.

- it was a rubbish chat. Most of the questions were idiotic, and any interesting topics were either ignored or told that they couldn't talk about these things. And the WinFS are-they-or-aren't-they topic wasn't answered apart from that it seems that Microsoft have seriously toned down what it will do.

- Indeed, it was garbage, they really needed about 15 more hosts for that number of people. They knew we all were coming too after the last chat and they only added like 3 more hosts.

- so it would be pointless for me to ask for a link to the chat transcript? post it anyways.

- No the chat wasn't terribly informative but here's a .txt of the chat windows for those who missed it.

- Read the link . Not much info. Mostly propaganda. Active searching in nothing new. It's a nice thing to have but not neccessary. I have it in Panther and I use it sometimes. What I'd like out of my work OS is stablility, responsiveness and speed and less screen clutter. I have to revert back to classic to have a professional interface at work.
It does not look like longhorn is going to deliver any of those things so far.

- That chat really wasn't informative at all (reading from the posted text file). All of the questions they did answer were almost completely inconsequential, and the answer to all other questions was either "I'm sorry, we can't tell you that," or "wait for WinHec." Thanks a lot, that was really informative. Their comment about entering a luxury hotel from the back alley was also nonsensical. The only things I really gleaned from that chat were that WinFS is still a part of Longhorn, the GUI is being overhauled (which everyone already knows), and that typing in "B...U...D..." into the search bar will find all budget documents on your hard drive in Longhorn (woo hoo, I just have to upgrade now!)
I can't say I blaim the moderators, since they have their hands completely tied, but that was a completely pointless chat. Did anyone else get any useful facts out of it that I missed? -

- Nope that's about it. Very silly to talk about when they can't talk about anything other than public knowledge. I think we still need to wait until beta (another year, damn) before things start to get interesting, right now it's so very boring.

- Beta or Alpha?
Once again, I see MS said:
"Blainbar_MS : A: The first public Beta will be available in summer of 2004. After that, we’ll release Longhorn when we’ve been able to address Beta issues and we’re sure you’ll love it."
That's pretty cool if they'll have a beta ready already this summer, I thought only an alpha would be. Wasn't there recent bad news about this? -

- Yeah, they didn't seem to know either.

- Ummm I thought there were no Alphas...MS call them Pre-Alphas?

Longhorn - The Future of Microsoft Windows
You've heard about some big changes on the way in Microsoft's next Windows release due out around 2005. How will they affect you and can you start planning now? Should you wait for the new releases or deploy existing OS's?
