Advertisement (Why?)
When you copy music media files between Microsoft Windows Media Player and a supported portable device, copy operations may take longer to perform as more items are added to the Media Library. Specifically, the time to copy increases exponentially as the number of items in the Media Library increases.

Get a grip. It's a performance enhancing fix, ain't got nothing to do with security.

Well actually xStainDX is right. This has been on WindowsUpdate for somewhere around 3 weeks now.

Perhaps that's the date for the 9x patch, but I could be wrong.. The original KB article have been released awhile ago :/

Indeed, it's old. I've had this patch for weeks now myself.

What's new is the 988 SE/ME patch. The KB only links directly to newer OS updates, which are not new and have not changed since originally posted in late April. Neowin has the link to the new patch published 5-14-04 for older OS's (still old binaries though).

Windows Media Player 3409 is newer and does not need this patch.

"This update can only be applied to Windows Media Player 9. If you have Windows Media Player 9 installed but still see this message, your version already includes this update."

Obviously since 3409 is Windows Media Player 10 Beta.

Just thought I would mention that.

Take Care,
Will
