- I say the kid gets a punishment of six whacks with a crowbar for making us all wait another year for this game...

- yea, since valve admitted the delay wasnt because of the leak.

- no ****, what's up with people being ignorant lately, if you think you're funny enough to make jokes, know what the hell is going on.

- You should be whacked with a crow bar, the game wasn't even finished.

- Yeah, well, I know somebody who works in an office down the hall from the person at Vivendi/Bellevue who got the phone call last Sept from a frantic Gabe Newell when all hell broke loose. I asked him if the leak was possibly some stunt to generate publicity for HL2 with the impending Xmas sales rush, and his answer was, "Oh, god no, they were totally freaked. They NEVER call us. They're definitely missing Xmas for this."
Everybody knows the game wasn't finished when the source was stolen, duh. However, their original ship date was last September, then pushed back to the end of the year. We're almost six months past that original slip date, and still no firm ship date. Whereas this week they are saying "development delays", and "tuning, tuning, tuning", and while that is likely a very true part of the story, we all know Joe Public gets daily PR spin from a variety of different companies. This isn't DNF. As a former veteran MSFT, Newell knows just how destructive it can be when someone discovers an exploitable hole, and he also is painfully aware that tens of millions of people don't keep their systems updated with the latest patches...it's very rare that a game has the kind of shelf-life that the original HL had, and if machines become compromised due to the source leak, HL2 will have the shelf-life of Daikatana. In other words, don't assume that cheaters would be the worst that could happen.
So maybe I'm just an ignorant joke teller. Whatever.

- Not his fault multi-million dollar corporations can't make (or setup) reliable computer operating systems. If they leave holes they are only going to get exploited one way or another.

- That has got to be one of the more retarded comments posted here in the last 5 minutes.
I supposed that when a car-jacker or car-theif steals your car that you're going to blame your car's manufacturer for not making better locks or unbreakable windows?
GROW UP, PUT YOUR SPOON-FED LIBERALISM IN THE TRASH CAN ALONG WITH YOUR PACIFIER AND JOIN THE REAL WORLD!

- The article is just an opinion, it is neither true nor false. How many "Ago" nicknames do you think there are on the internet.
I would bet a lot.

- Oooh can we arrange to put him in a room full of hardcore gamers whom have been upset about the delay of HL2 so we can beat the sh*t out of him...
This is still an open file with the FBI as well and Valve will take him to court and prosecute him as well...
I would not like to be in his shoes...

"Last week the German police arrested the creator of the Sasser worm. It received less coverage, but nearly at the same time they also made it to get the author of the far more hostile Phatbot. Axel G., 21 years old and known under the nick "Ago", is responsible for the making of the tool that can be used to steal all kinds of data and to relay (SPAM) email among other things.
The German IT news mag Heise.de did some investigation and according to their recherche Axel G. probably also was heavily involved in the Half-Life 2 code theft that happened more than 7 months ago. The source code and other assets of Valve's shooter then were released on the internet by the perpetrator. The evidence hinting at Ago's involvement include this chat log among other things.
The investigations are still going, in the meantime, however, the police confiscated Axel G.'s passport and released him again as there's no risk of the accused attempting to escape according to them."
