Google's controversial Gmail e-mail service, under invitation-only testing on the Internet, is the toughest ticket in town.
Netizens are offering trades of everything from tours of Barcelona and Tokyo to home-cooked spaghetti sauce in exchange for a very rare Gmail account invitation. Those lucky enough to already have an account are auctioning invitations for $100 to $150 on eBay.
Dallas Pool is offering a two-hour Segway rental from his shop in La Jolla, Calif., in exchange for an invitation. "My business gets 100 e-mails a day," says Pool. "Finding an e-mail from three months ago is a nightmare. I want Google's proven ability to search through them."
Gmail won't be available to the general public until late summer. It offers 1,000 megabytes of free storage, compared with industry leader Yahoo Mail's 4 megabytes.

Gran Turismo 4 Prologue (PS2)
This budget-priced preview version of the much-delayed Gran Turismo 4 was originally a Japan-only title but multiple delays of GT4 proper have forced Sony's hand into releasing Prologue across PAL territories. The demo features 46 driving tests and 64 different cars, along with a bonus disc that features a 'Making of GT4' movie and a message from GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi. Ooooo.
Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition (PS2)
The Street Fighter series is the best collection of 2D beat-'em-ups of all time and this compilation features every Street Fighter II character, move and combo in one huge fight-fest. And at just £19.99, it's an absolute steal.
Red Dead Revolver (PS2, Xbox)
A thrilling escape into wild west third-person rootin' tootin' shootin' fun. It's been a long time coming, having been taken on by Rockstar after Capcom shelved the title, but it's been worth the wait. Oh yes.
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (PS2)
A strategy RPG (think Final Fantasy Tactics) that probably isn't for those who aren't already fans of the genre but a fine title for anyone who is. Seeing as it's very Japanese in flavour and full of humour, fans may be able to forgive it for not being the most beautiful of beasts.
Smash Court Tennis 2: Pro Tournament (PS2)
This series has produced some cracking racquetainment and this instalment delivers where it should. Above all, you just can't beat a spot of four-player tennis. Those disposed to sports titles should give this a good look.
Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban (PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, PC, GBA)
The latest action-adventure romp in the Harry Potter series allows you to play as Ron and Hermione for the first time. Of course, you still get to be Harry as well as using the specialised skills of the other two teenage tricksters. The PS2 version is the pick of the bunch thanks to its EyeToy compatibility.

Gmail does indeed kick serious butt.
What are you talking about?
If you're talking about an algorithm analyzing what you write to show targeted ads, well, Google Search has always done that too... I heard someone say Hotmail did too, as he always seemed to get Brazil ads when exchanging mail about Brazil.
