NFORCE 4 will be the name of the project that will finally bring PCI Express to the Athlon K8 market. This chipset will be socket 754/939 ready and 940 compatible and all CPUs Athlon 64s, FX, Sempr0ns and Opterons will work on it. The platform will have one to two PCI express 16 slots making this Geforce 6800 SLI mode possible for not quite as much crazy money as you'll have to invest in Tumwater and Xeon CPU. The good news for Sound Storm lovers is that this chipset finally features these nice audio capabilities. It's now called Sound Storm 2 - no surprise there - but we don’t know anything about its features as yet.

Haha, a good new CPU huh?

NForce 4 sounds like it will be nice, i wonder if anything else besides PCI-E, Nvidia SLI, and SS2.

flash demo on www.nvidia.com, also shows a one cpu mainboard.... hmm interresting.
so maybe it's not limited to Xeon mainboards after all...

Wow, nice Nvidia! Too bad I won't be able to afford the setup for at least a year after it's release (ur talkin' $1000 just on the video cards, not to mention u'll need a super fast CPU to feed the beast).

Bringing back the SoundStorm = good idea.

Sounds great. I'm glad there is someone besides VIA and Intel to make mobo chipsets.

This sounds cool I love the N-force 2 400 ultra and now N-force 4 thats going to be cool. As for the soundstorm I dont know why you all are happy about who cares about that.

what are you an idiot or something ? why would you not want high end dolby certified 5.1 at 24 bits that can also do pro audio ASIO recording built onto your motherboard instead of spending another 100 to 400 beans on a standalone card for pro audio, and another 200 on a gaming card....

Exactly, the highpoint of the nForce chipset is the Soundstorm APU, it's essentially the tipping point for most people using A64's, as the current run for nVidia is a little lacking in comparison with VIA's offering.

Soundstorm = Teh Win.

Lets put it this way sound storm is SO GOOD there was talks about having a pci add-in card for intel/and via based setups were you cant have nforce 2 or and combo and you use a via and amd or intel and intel

If you could hear Soundstorm outputting 5.1 digital to my Sony Receiver you would definitely know what the big deal is about. I have basically avoided getting an Athlon 64 system because of this one reason. Funny how they announced this just as I am making my last car payment this month. Hmmm wonder what to do with the extra cash next month...
