For those of you who haven't already donated to Mozilla foundation. Here is yet another reason to donate. Apparently donations made directly to Mozilla.org are now tax deductible! Big thanks goes out to Slashdot for the update.

We at MozillaNews have discovered that the Mozilla Foundation is now officially 501(c)(3) approved by the IRS, meaning you can now deduct donations made directly to Mozilla.org from your income tax returns. This is separate from, and obviates the Open Source Applications Foundation donation method mentioned in August on MozillaZine.

Who says it was sarcasm?

$40 is $40. You can make at least a ten minute phone call with that.
#3.3 xxpor on 12 Jul 2004 - 20:22
You can only make a 10 min call with that
I can make a 800 min phone call with that

Actually, he said 'at least a 10 minute phone call', so it's still technically correct, whichever way you look at it

But if you don't donate you save more
#4.1 Techneaux on 12 Jul 2004 - 19:13
Well...

More donations = More Mozilla development = More pressure on Microsoft = Better/cheaper products from both sides. (Ok, maybe just better. )

There are more important foundations to donate money to. If Mozilla wants money they might as well sell their product.
#8.1 tapo on 13 Jul 2004 - 00:36
*Gasp* You could be using money that you used to purchase that snickers bar to buy something from the girl scouts or disabled veterans, or maybe a donation to the american cancer society! Wait! You could use the money you used to pay the american cancer society to donate to PBS! The horrors!

I'm sorry, but I can't be superman and donate to everyone. Nobody can be.

But I like Mozilla, so I'll make a donation to them.

I thought organizations had to have some sort of social link (like a religion or a marginalized group) to be eligible for tax exemption.
