Google may be getting most of the attention among search engines, especially with its upcoming initial public offering, but new Forrester Research data on search habits shows Yahoo is still getting a big piece of the action. Use of Yahoo as a search engine ties that of the mighty Google in the most recent Consumer Technographics survey, sponsored by Forrester, of more than 60,000 North American households. Each of those search engines shows up with 40 percent of Web surfers who use a portal or search site at least once a week. And Forrester believes use of Yahoo search will surge ahead of Google in the first quarter of 2005, says George Colony, Forrester chair and CEO.

If you are not interested in participating in this special program, you should install the regular .NET Framework redistributable package from link below instead. The .NET Framework Code Coverage Edition runs slower and consumes more memory due to the overhead of the data collection.

Important: You cannot install this alongside the normal .NET Framework version 2.0 on the same machine, and should avoid installing this on a machine with any version of the .NET Framework already on it. You should also reformat your machine after you’re finished with this product, or create a restore point prior to this install so you can restore it once you’re done.

This is because Yahoo is teaming up with all these ISPs so that their customers use Yahoo's toolbar to search. Its a very smart move by Yahoo. Google cant team up with anyone cuz the only service they provide publicly right now is search.

if only they made search.yahoo.com their main top-level domain, all would be good. but nooo, they have to throw their worthless portal **** in our faces when we type yahoo.com...

In a way that is almost the problem with Google recently. I mean there have been a couple of instances in recent months where I have wondered if Google was loosing sight of it's KISS philosophy - in a bid to come up with a bunch of money spinning new services.

But I use Google because i like to keep things as simple as possible. No clutter, no special offers, no pop ups no crap at all if at all possible.

This is what so many other search engines have neglected to understand.

If Yahoo is gaining ground - as has been pointed out above - it has nothing to do with whether they are a superior search option or not (and they are not) - it has to do with a more clever way of marketing what is still a second rate product.

Actually yahoo search is really good. I know a few times I was looking for something and could not find it on Google but yahoo had it on the first page, sometimes very first link. I am not shocked to see yahoo gaining ground.

I hope that didn't count the people who listen to their radio. I rarely listen to radio but recently i found Yahoo Launchcast and it is pretty good.

Hmmm, almost never use Yahoo anything, well beyond movies.yahoo.com. On dial-up their site is pretty slow, unless you already know where you are going. I have google as my default search in the search bar in Opera, so that's where I go mostly.

Yahoo's search definitly is better than Google...Google has no reason to pursue their business anymore, they're beaten by everyone on everything

Do you have figures to support your statement?
Google for it and you will find none
