AMD has previously reported by The Inquirer AMD has cut prices on its processors. This price cut can be linked to the introduction of its Sempron processors come August. So now is a pretty good time to buy an AMD processor.
As revealed in the INQ some weeks back, chip wannabe AMD took its axe to the pricing tree on the 26th of July. Some prices have come down, some prices have gone up. It's like the Grand Old Duke of York. When they were up they were up, and when they were down they were down. And when they were only half way up they were neither up nor down.
The pre-emptive strike may force Intel's hand - as we also revealed here some time back, its next desktop price move is supposed to be the 22nd of August. AMD's Sempr0n logo - anyone else think this looks like the old Philips logo?You might think that Intel wouldn't want to lose face by dropping its prices. But like the INQUIRER, Intel is "never knowingly undersoldered", and if its distributors and dealers start deserting its Celeron D and Prescotts in droves, Intel will cut, cut, and cut again.
