Overview
The Threats and Countermeasures Guide contains detailed information about relevant security settings that you can configure on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP SP1. This guide describes the different threats, potential countermeasures, and the potential impact of configuring these settings.

Note: The information in this guide is current for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP SP1. The release of Windows XP SP2 will introduce changes to the operating system that are not yet included in this guide. For more information about the extensive changes in SP2, see the article "Changes to Functionality in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2".
