The same day that Microsoft announced its instant messaging service was available for Verizon mobile users, Yahoo said it had done a similar deal with Verizon rival Cingular. On Thursday, Cingular said users of its MEdia Net service can now log onto the Yahoo Web site from their phones and use its instant messaging (IM) network, as well as access Yahoo Mail and the sports, weather, and news information posted on the portal.
