Neowin has managed to find a few working mirrors that are simply just SP2 RTM and without any patches or dodgy torrents :)

We ask members not to post links to any torrent files or any files that are over the MB (266) of the final as these could contain warez/trojans etc. If you do have any working mirrors with just the RTM on then feel free to PM me on Neowin (creamhackered) and I will add them to this post.

On a side note, apologies to our members who's posts were moderated in the forum for posting SP2 download links. We have to ensure the links don't contain any warez/trojans and in some cases we removed ones that were genuine.

Update: We now have the Official Microsoft mirror available (266MB network install). Please remember that a smaller update will be available for users on Windows Update/Automatic Updates from the 25th August onwards so turn on Automatic Updates and save bandwidth!

Download: Windows XP SP2
Download: Patched UxTheme.dll for Windows XP SP2

Good man

QUOTE
To check the MD5 checksum for the file use a free program called FSUM. It's very good and easy to use (readme.txt explains everything if you can't use it right away).

FSUM

That's cool and I respect that. We're just offering people choice

That's because we couldn't confirm how authentic the links were and whether they contained keygens.

Like creamhackered said above, we want to ensure that Neowin users are downloading the legit thing, not random torrents with keygens, trojans and god knows what else. These links are all legit and can be MD5 checked.

Since we're clearly asking members to check the EXE with an MD5 checksum verifier Microsoft shouldn't be unhappy that even more people will be updating to SP2. We're also tracking the downloads so we can report to MS how many users have downloaded the EXEs

Clearly you're an idiot, the version released to beta testers and to MSDN will be no different than the one released to the web. We can guarantee that if you download one of these mirrors and the MD5 hash is the same as we have posted then it's the real SP2. OK?

Which mirror did you download it from? And aslong as it installs and the time stamp is 2158 it's RTM

That's cause you idiots were posting links to torrent files that contained keygens. Piece of advice, think before you type.
#10.2 creamhackered on 08 Aug 2004 - 15:46
Well personally I think removing links like the ones posting on the main page was going too far and I apologise.

They shouldn't have removed legit links. Whats does MS think? That every techno-gal/guy in the world is going to wait till they officially release it? Thats what Neowin's for
