This patch is for the existing Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 64-bit Edition that were out for a few years already that run on Intel Itanium and Itanium2 processors. They use the IA64 instruction set.

A lot of people are getting confused about this.

Windows XP 64-Bit Edition, Windows XP 64-Bit Edition 2004, and Windows Server 2003 64-Bit have been around for a long time. Those are for the Itanium and Itanium 2 processors.

Windows XP for 64-Bit Extended Systems and Windows Server 2003 for 64-Bit Extended Systems have not been released.
