Tweaknews.net has released yet another review onto the internet this time its ATI Radeon X300 Reference PCI Express Videocard Review:

"What I will be stating is that if you are moving to the new Intel LGA775 specification or the new Athlon64 PCI Express motherboard and you just need a basic 2D videocard, the X300 based alternatives on the market will make you more than happy. If you are even considering gaming, do yourself a favor and upgrade to an X600 if you want some decent playable framerates on any of the more recent or newly released games on the market."

Currently SCi has released no details of what it's planning to do with Highlander, but creative director Patrick O'Luanaigh weighed in with his thoughts on the franchise, which the company clearly reckons has a lot of potential. You can see his point, too - it is, after all, a game about scary men with big swords hacking each other up.

"There are so many great opportunities with such a rich licence as the Highlander franchise," O'Luanaigh commented. "We will be working closely with Peter Davis and Bill Panzer to develop the Highlander universe further. The concept is ideal for a game."

It's not yet clear whether there will "be only one" Highlander game, but there will be only one 'be only one' gag in this item. Except those two. Ignore 'em. And expect to hear more about Highlander soon.

I don't get it, anyone going for a cheap longhorn compatible PC if buys a 915G he will get the INTEL GMA 900 for free, which is enough for 2d taks, I mean Windows only, so Y spend on this

Also a gamer will never go for 915G, at least 915P or 925, or AMD64 so what is the use of this card anyway

Excuse me I have a X300 PCI Express and it runs Doom 3 laglessly and half life perfectly (to be expected though i guess). Doom 3 I ran on reasonably high detail and resolution. I dont see how this is a bad card. It is 128mb afterall.

The amount of RAM a video card has doesn't necessarily determine it's performance

ok you try and run a p4 3 ghz with a geforce 3 ti500 64mb and then try in the same rig, a geforce t14200 128mb and see for yourself.

Ram on the video card helps load and cache textures, polygons, blaha blah etc

It may not determine it performance, but it does affect it.

the only way the memory has any effect is if the gpu can access and use the amount of memory properly...a 5700 with 256MB memory is useless cause the core could never use that memory in a good way also the same with a 9600 with 256MB...also in the comment above the geforce 3 with 64 mb won't compete with a geforce 4200 with 64mb so putting the extra 64 like stated above will obviously make sense...

all this makes sense when you look at the new 6800 non ultra with 128MB of regular ddr blowing away a 9800XT with 256MB...memory is important but it's the core that has to fit with the amount...

Elaborate on that. I thought all the 5 series geforce cards used the same core, just with clockspeed differences.

No, the 5700 is an NV36, the 5200/5500s are NV34s, and the 5900s are NV35s. However, the 5950 Ultra is a rare NV38 (a good card too).
