- I don't know, this is contrary to what I've seen at least in my area.
Here you can go to CompUSA and they have a stock of 6800s, 6800 GTs, and 6800 Ultras all from PNY. And I think a vanilla or GT from another company as well.
They've received several shipments of the PNY cards. I got my GT there back in July.
They still haven't received a single X800 card though. On the shelf they have a "pre-order" box for the X800 Pro. And I was told that they were in fact still accepting pre-orders (for a card that supposedly launched months ago!). -

- Totally, I was told by ATI that my X800XT Platinum that I ordered on 9/13 won't be in stock until 11/15.

- Of course they're afraid of the memory guys!

* ATI sets the (#tech_market) topic to "Sorry guys, it's not our fault the cards aren't available - it's the memory-people's fault!"
* MemoryMan has joined (#tech_market)
<MemoryMan> Yo, ATI.. My boss just wanted to let you know that due to.. bad yields.. yeah.. prices have gone up 40% for the next couple of batches of memory you wanted.

As for Nvidia, it was telling us that it was actually shipping Geforce 6800 Ultra as crazy through their partners and that there are no shortages. The situation on the ground is a completely different story altogether, we have learned that the 6800 Ultras are hardly available in etail or in retail. As we reported last week, you can barely find X800XT PE, X800XT or Geforce 6800 Ultras. We are puzzled why the graphic companies haven't just said the delay partially caused by shortage of DDR 3 memory. I don’t think they are afraid of the memory guys, are they?

At present the new venture is being called "Exclaim," but this is apparently only a temporary name and is likely to be replaced before the firm starts trading. Cousens is joined in the new venture by Europlay Capital Advisers, the Los Angeles based firm which is headed by industry veterans Sean Brennan and Mark Dyne and has advised on a number of major industry deals in recent years.
It's expected that along with the Cheltenham and Manchester studios - accounting for some 160 employees - "Exclaim" will also take possession of several of Acclaim's products in development, including Interview with a Made Man and Heist.
