Today Microsoft have released service pack 1 for Office 2004 Mac Edition. The service pack addresses potential security issues and the normal removal of several bugs. Scott Erickson, group product manager for the Mac BU at Microsoft commented on the update saying "We strive to deliver the best possible product experience through extensive testing and by gathering customer feedback. This helps us determine issues to address within a service pack and prioritize which improvements will make the most difference."

Microsoft introduced a new error reporting tool to enable greater feedback in Office 2004. Microsoft Error Reporting Protocol (MERP) allows customers to communicate bug data anonymously to Microsoft, enabling efficient fixes and helping increase the overall stability of Office 2004.

The update will be distributed for Office 2004 for Mac via Microsoft® AutoUpdate service.
