Today is the big launch day for the next version of Windows Media Center Edition, 2005.

Here at Neowin we will bring you the latest information on Media Center Extender devices as well as the Xbox Media Center Extender. Microsoft is expected to announce the broad availability of Windows Media Center 2005, Extender devices, Pocket Media Center devices and Mobile Windows Media Player 10. XMCX (Xbox Media Center Extender) is expected to be released late November in time for the Christmas holidays.

Had it since yesterday, not much of a noticeable difference between 2004 and 2005, other than it seems to run a lot faster.

It is on windowsupdate.microsoft.com

I'm installing it right now. You have to have MCE 2005 installed or you cannot download it. It's not for WinXP.

MCE 2003/2004 was only made available to OEM System builders like Dell and HP. Microsoft decided to release MCE 2005 to everyone.
