Apple today officially launched its iTunes Music Store in Canada, giving music Canadian users the same innovative features and breakthrough price of $.99 CDN per song that it offers in the US. "The demand across Canada for the iTunes Music Store has been overwhelming," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of Applications. "We are excited to be able to offer music fans in Canada their own customized iTunes Music Store featuring many top Canadian artist exclusives." The iTunes Music Store in Canada features over 700,000 songs and dozens of exclusive tracks as well as the same personal use rights as in the US and Europe. MacNN first noted the iTMS for Canada late last night.

Congrats Apple and a job well done!
As an IT enthusiast I was saying "But the Ipod can store 5 times more for barely 50 bucks more, it's the best valued Ipod etc. etc."...
.. only to be answered by "But the Mini is sooooooo cute and tiny!" by both my mother and sis...
Go figure..
Good for the Canadians who are bothered to Download Legally, although I havent heard of them making File Sharing Legal, as far as I know, so.....................yeah, GREAT Job to Apple!
Now, I'm not condoning illegal downloads but I cannot cast the first stone either.
Currently our copyright laws allow you to download any music you damn well please, as long as you aren't sharing yours for upload. We get away with this because we already pay a tax on recordable media that is to reimburse the artists and record companies.
This is a small sample, but the first group It searched for, Sum 41 a Canadian group, produced NO results by the group.
Fine, you might say, they're just not on iTunes yet. EXCEPT THEY ARE. There are 65 results in the US store for this Canadian group, INCLUDING EXCLUSIVES, but NO RESULTS in the Canaidan store.
$0.99 US is worth a lot more than $0.99 Canadian ^_^ You'd be rich up here with that kind of money!
well, multiply that by, say 3500 songs .14 x 3500 = 490 Bucks
over the long haul, that's a bit o savings
