About four years ago, Microsoft's R&D team came up with a new technology called Smart Personal Object Technology (SPOT) which uses FM radio signals to broadcast information to your wristwatch. After a few delays, the SPOT service was finally launched earlier this year with four companies producing SPOT enabled watches: Suunto, Fossil, Tissot and Swatch. According to the software giant, thousands of watches have been sold since the service launch.
