Another key Mozilla Developer, Darin Fisher, announced today that he has joined Google inc.
Ben Goodger, on Monday, announced that he had joined Google Inc but pledged to continue work on the Mozilla Project and on key releases like Firefox 1.1, 1.5 and 2.0. Darin, who currently owns Cookie/Permissions, NetLib (The Mozilla Networking Library) and NSPR (Netscape Portable Runtime) modules has also announced he will continue work on these Mozilla Projects.
In a brief post on his weblog, Darin said the following "I thought I'd post that I have joined Google as well. Like Ben, I will still be very much involved with the Mozilla project and community :-)". Darin has previously worked for IBM and Netscape/AOL.
Clearly Google is developing technologies that will build into or off current Mozilla projects. Neither Google nor Darin have announced what Darin's work role at Google will be.

No wonder it sounds strange
OK, is this some kind of new virus?
Worm.Win32.NeowinVeryVery ?
I am just wondering what Google is up to....
Would love to see them develop XUL application like the MAB for Amazon... to have the easy side of browser (no install) and `responsiveness` of local application. Plus cross-platform compatibility.
[Not talking about Google browser
Trust me, google is a great company, with a great search algorythm (sp?) and probably one of the best search engines we have out there... Google, like some of you may forget, is a company.. The only reason we kind of forget this is because google isn't nescessarily "evil".. But do you think a corporation made to make money will just give away there money for the sake of a web browser? Is google in the firefox search because of the convenience that most people prefer it, or is it something inside?
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE google, BUT I don't think you should make bold assumptions like that..
But yeah, AOL still is evil even though.
Microsoft doesn't hire talented developers, they only hire talented sales and marketing people. They let firms in India do all the development.
Oh, and I'm sure the folks at Redmond don't do any development, right? Good job flaunting your ignorance.
Microsoft has 58,000 employees worldwide
HALF, 28,000, are in the WASHINGTON STATE, including Redmond, where they do most (if not all) of the development.
9,000 more are elsewhere in the USA.
Only about 20,000 are elsewhere, and just divide that by the number of countries Microsoft has offices in. Most big campuses outside Redmond are just for smaller projects (such as translation), research or just sales.
How do you know what Google is going to have these guys do?
Idiot.
Google isn't paying them to develop firefox, Google just hired them so they could have a little influence on firefox and maybe integrate a few (useful) google tools. Google has no control over firefox as a whole and it certainly has no control over closing the source code.
Ben and the rest of the developrs are never going to develop firefox based on what a company like Google wants, that would defeat the whole purpose of firefox. Sure this will help strenthen their relationship and they can work together to make firefox better but nothing bad will come of this.
...who cares?
So if Gates would join Apple, you'd just go "so a person quit a company and joined another"?
if any news just spoke on random terms like that, would you care?
