oh wait, nevermind.
I'm not sure whether its a good or bad idea launching it before E3, but one things for sure, more people will hear about it.
While I'm not too fond of MTV and this kind of junk, I think it's good that Microsoft is working on all fronts and really bringing the game to Sony - whose massive hype machine has been one of its greatest assets.
Gaming is no longer a niche market. More and more people are starting to play video games and guess what, that means more money will be poured into it. There will always be good games and games that suck, but the marketing aspect really has no bearing on that.
Industry wranglings aside, it also shows how bad MTV has really gotten, this isn't the first time they've joined with Microsoft to try and disguise blatant ("super-liminal" if you will) advertising as some kind of TV show. Having said that, I suppose you could argue that MTV is based around showing 3.5 minute adverts for bands, so a 30 minute games console advert is a natural progression.
Personally, I find it depressing.
.... But becuase it is COOL since it is on MTV and because some lame ass celebrity who doesnt know a joystick from a gamepad, (but probably has a sex video out) is now saying Xbox is cool. These same celebrities will promote PS3 or Nentindo's Rev. if paid..
..
.. SO how they hell do people listen to celebreties on making puchasing decissions,,, boggles my mind..
But I digress.
The last thing I would want to see is the likes of Ja Rule or Ashlee Simpson promoting a console. I can see it in my head playing out now:
Ja Rule: "Yo yo yo, this console is fresh, its dope, its got gamez. Yea dog."
Ashlee Simpson: "This console is hardcore, rebellious, and badass, just like me!"
I know that they will not be on the show, but it is just what I picture it is going to turn out like.
I seriously do not know why people would base their decision on a celebrity. It seems like MS is going after the most gullible people. "Since Britney Spears endorses it I guess I should buy it considering Britney makes smart choices in life. Like marrying a backup dancer and walking in a gas station restroom barefoot." Please, this is such a lame promotion attempt.
MTV can burn for all I care, I haven't watched that pile of muck since the late 80s.
Oh wait.. should I edit my last comment? should I say "well except for the times I passed it surfing"...
Sheez
I'll wait for the websites to post the info, thanks
So I guess basically I'm just saying, keep crying if you are really that upset about, because no one wants to hear it.
"Where unprofessional journalism looks better - Microsoft And MTV To Provide Exclusive Peep At Xbox 2"
For MS to use MTV to promote XBOX, sort of validates all the crap that is MTV, that is where my true problem with this promotion is.
MTV and the like (BET etc.) do a great disService to th youth of this nation, and MS should not advocate it.
Microsoft target audience watch MTV.
I know it's cool to hate everything thats mainstream but you cannot deny that this isn't a good move on Microsoft's part.
Whether you like MTV or not this marketing move will get the message across
and im also amazed they will be playing music...
ok, joke.
* It, being an MTV station.

and honestly they could do worse.. elijah wood is a pretty hardcore gamer/nerd will wheaton style and the killers are a solid band. sure MTV is garbage but of all the channels that kids watch I'd say MTV is probably a better bet than any other network..
Always has been, always will be.
PC gamers actualy know the difference between a quality game and a POS.
Console gamers are sheep.
There is no marketable demand on backward compatibility.
How many people do you know who won't buy XBox 2 due to the lack of backward compatibility with XBox? You can be sure that MS has made a lot of market researching before making the final decision on the features of its next gen console.
Backward compatibility could be made by a 25$ additional chip but it would increase the price of the console by 25 bucks and much more potentional consumer would choose PS3 instead of XBox2 thanks to this difference of price than the count of the consumer who won't buy XBox2 with no backward compatibility with XBox.
Always has been, always will be.
lol once these consoles come out the pc will be the one that's behind. until the consoles get old again
I think it's a great idea to show it on MTV, most people don't even know about E3 but everyone knows about MTV so it makes perfect sense to unveil the Xbox2 on MTV.
