With Longhorn more than a year out and Microsoft interested in getting older PCs up to Windows XP, the solution Microsoft seems to have hit on is to create a leaner version of Windows XP.

Code-Named Eiger, this stripped down XP focuses on enterprises currently running Windows 2000 (or worse) who don't want to upgrade their hardware.

Sounds like something aimed at the Best Buys of the world who run off of a crappy nt4 setup which barely meets the requirements to even boot up.

I'd prefer 2K Pro over any XP product any day why the becuase of BS Windows Product Activation or Phone Home carp build in XP which is the main reason I will not buy XP and stick to Windows 2000 Pro

Great, but the target clients (read: legit) don't have this problem, and neither do businesses.
