- The Remote keyboard has some pretty cool features, but it's design? Ugh!
That keyboard gives me the impression that it's intended for people to use on their laps.
The Wireless Optical Desktop 5000 keyboard looks really slick. But I wonder why the Zoom slider is needed. What's so bad about the mouse scroll wheel?
Oh and BTW: for keyboards like that, they're quite pricey. -

- I wish they'd flock off that "F-Lock" key and let the function keys do what they are supposed to!

- The F-Lock is the only thing that annoys me (Wireless Desktop Elite user). Can't they at least give us an option to have it enabled or disabled on startup? Idealy, it should only trigger to the special functions when an Office program is running.

- Yeah, I'm not a big fan of F-Lock, at the least it could just be on by default...
BUT i like raptors idea of it being on only when something in office suite is running.
edit: it actually wouldn't be hard to write a small service app that does this.i just don't think MS has added the F-lock as a key state in API yet... suck...

- $100+ for a keyboard? What the heck?
EDIT: Ah, I see, it comes with other stuff as well. But still, my Microsoft Wireless Desktop 2.0 (mouse and keyboard) was only $30 and it's still working strong.

- *jibbers* Why can't they bring back the old natural layout! I hate this curvy 'compromise' look.

- Wireless keyboards are nice, I suppose, but why doesn't somebody make a wireless plain-vanila keyboard, one without those extra special-function buttons?
Or better yet, put some EL-wire under the keys so it glows in the dark.

- I think its cool that the Media Center keyboard has the buttons on the side light up, but I was hoping for all the keys to light up. If there is only one thing about Macs that I like, especially in their laptops, is that all the keys light up would be especially nice for those late night gaming sessions.

- Scarily nice, that looks almost as good as the Logitech 3100.

- One thing they could implement is, get rid of the MY MY MY on everything. It seems to me after all the years of looking at MY DOCUMENTS< MY MUSIC<etc. they wouldnt even dare put that on a keyboard. Might be a hot seller at Toys R' Us.

Microsoft Hardware has developed the first three-in-one control center for a Windows® XP-based Media Center PC with remote, keyboard and mouse capabilities in one sleek device, designed exclusively for the living room. For digital camera owners, Microsoft will also introduce a mouse, keyboard and digital image software suite for everyday use that turns any desktop into a virtual darkroom.
“We create hardware for how and where people use their PC,” said Tom Gibbons, general manager of the Hardware Group at Microsoft. “With this in mind, we designed two new devices to enhance the digital entertainment activities people are now enjoying, such as playing movies on their Media Center and editing digital photos.”
More Control, Less Complexity
New Microsoft® Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition enables greater interaction and control of a Media Center PC compared with a regular remote. This three-in-one device, the first of its kind, makes it easy to turn up the volume, type a message, or point and click with the fully integrated remote, keyboard and mouse capabilities — all without ever having to leave the couch.
Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition features a sleek design to match the living room, and its compact size enables it to be easily stowed when not in use to help get rid of clutter. With smart features including a Media Center green button and backlit buttons, this device makes using a Media Center PC easier and more fun than ever.
Cut, Crop, Click
Wireless Optical Desktop 5000 includes a wireless keyboard, mouse and photo-editing software that makes it a snap to access, edit and share digital photos on a PC. The keyboard comes equipped with PhotoCenter, featuring one-touch access to most-used photo-editing functions and Zoom Slider to zoom into and out of photos. The sleek wireless optical mouse is a picture-perfect companion to the keyboard with its new Magnifier tool, which enlarges any section of the screen for easy viewing and editing. With the inclusion of new Digital Image Standard 2006 software, this integrated hardware and software solution delivers all the tools needed to customize photos while reducing the number of editing steps.
The new products introduced today will be widely available by September 2005 for the following estimated retail prices:
• Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition: $104.95 (U.S.)
• Wireless Optical Desktop 5000: $104.95 (U.S.)
