Mess.be is reporting that a second build of MSN Messenger 7.5 build 0162, has been released to testers. Microsoft announced that there were minor visual changes to the audio and video setup wizard. They offered no other information on further changes in this build.

MSN Messenger is a private beta and is expected to release before Q4 2005.

So far the visual changes include an improved logon sequence, contact list/message window polishing and the addition of being able to send a voice clip to contacts.

ESRB president Patricia Vance states the situation rather differently, saying that: "After a thorough investigation, we have concluded that sexually explicit material exists in a fully rendered, unmodified form on the final discs of all three platform versions of the game."

She did note, however, that "the material was programmed by Rockstar to be inaccessible to the player and they have stated that it was never intended to be made accessible."

The "Hot Coffee" mod saw players taking their girlfriend home and then having sex with her in a mini-game that, while present on the game DVD, only came to light after a PC modification unlocked the code. The data was subsequently found to be resident on the PS2 and Xbox discs and could be unlocked on PS2 using Datel's Action Replay cheat-finder product.

The ESRB and another industry body, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), have come under increasing pressure to act since Hot Coffee came to light, with widespread coverage in the American media and proponents of a ban receiving support from the likes of senator Hillary Clinton, Californian assemblyman Leland Yee, and anti-videogame activist Jack Thompson, who recently compared ESA president Doug Lowenstein to Adolf Hitler over his role in the affair.

Indeed, just last week the BBFC said that while it didn't know about Hot Coffee at the time of rating the game, it wasn't going to update it. "Even if we had been aware of it, we would not have had a problem," a spokesperson told this website. "From our point of view the hidden material does not contravene the 18 rating and so the rating stands."

In Australia however the game could well be banned altogether, with Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) - a notoriously strict organisation - having previously refused to classify titles including Manhunt and NARC, effectively banning them from sale. There the OFLC had said: "The Classification Board is compelled to revoke a game's classification if it is found to contain undisclosed contentious material, whether activated through use of a code or otherwise."

Too cluttered for my tastes. I'll stick with Miranda when in Windows and GAIM when in Linux, thanks.
Quote this comment #7.1 Posted by Betaz on 23 Jul 2005 - 16:00
Agreed, and I'm gonna work with the team to try to get them to reduce that during this beta, but I could never use Miranda or GAIM. I've tried, but they lack almost all functionality other than basic chatting

Yeah, go to "Tools -> Options -> Security -> This is a shared computer so don't display my tabs"

Been there since 7.0

File Created: Thursday, July 21, 2005, 8:56:13 PM

Downloaded off Connect within about 30 minutes of release.

Now, as I said, it came out on the 21st, so don't argue unless you know what you're talking about. Being one of the testers, I DO know what I am talking about Thank you and have a nice day.

Congradulations on being accepted into the beta. You are one of the very few that can actually give MS valuable feedback on issues affecting the product, and personally helping to make a better product for millions when it is finally released. Just be sure that whenever you file a bug report that you specify you are also using a-patch or any other third-party add-on in direct violation of the agreement you signed to participate in the beta so that your bug reports can be summarily ignored.

Once you've compromised anything in the product with poorly-written code from a third party to remove or alter features in the product, there is no way for MS to know if there is actually a bug in their code, or if it was your fault. They might go chasing after a potentially serious bug that you "find", but won't be able to reproduce it or fix it and freak out or whatever. They entrusted you as a valuable resource, but you off and abuse this privilege. Hopefully, official beta testers like you are in the minority of the beta program.

You could have just downloaded it anywhere and patched it all you wanted, but nooOOOooo...

the only annoying thing that i find so far is that msn 7.5 dont remember the last state that i want to sign in so basically i leave appear offline or busy when i sign in always but when i close and open msn messenger again it always appear online state (i know its not a big deal but since i want to sign in fast i just dont like to click here and there) something that the msn 7.0 could do anyways.

Do they will support voice chat via shared internet connections ?
MSN still not yet support it, meanwhile YM can do it. I think now many people need this voice chat via shared internet connection.

please support this
Thanks
