The iTunes section on the Apple Australia website has mysteriously gained space, but under further examination, shows the text "Launch Music Store" in the alt (mouseover; refer to screenshot)

Please note that the cursor is missing because the printscreen button doesn't capture the cursor =(

Does this mean that Australians will finally get what they've been asking for?

The only thing stopping Apple from opening a iTMS in Australia is the lack of a contract with Sony, since SonyBMG own pretty-much every Australian artist. Since Apple are talking with Sony about the iTMS in Japan, we could certainly could see an Aussie iTMS some time soon

I for one would stop using P2P completely of the iTMS opened here in Aus.

There previously has been evidence that Apple have plans for an Aussie iTMS - for example, an Australian flag sphere (like the flags used by Apple in the iTMS) was discovered on one of Apple's web servers.

Yeah, Apple isn't holding back, SonyBMG are.

and like you said, if it opened over here, i would stop using P2P all together (yes there are other music stores, but i dont want to buy music from somebody that will only play on a pc, and mp3/wma players i dont want to spend money on, i already have a iPod)

And don't forget the guys from AppleTalk who managed to log in and buy a couple songs...It's about time, this is one service I'll definitely use

I have never complain about news post before, but this has got to be the worst one. 1) If you know that the Print Screen does not capture the mouse button, then why not install a screen shot snapper program temporary? 2) What is the mouse cursor has anything to prove that the image has any correlation with "Australia" music to have mention it on the front page? 3) I don't see the image on the front page has any relation or hint (proof) as it is "Australia" related.

I know we claim we are unprofessional, but at least have some curteousy to be logical.
