Thanks to Long for the heads up

The Microsoft Windows Vista homepage has been updated with a slick new interface and more basic information about the next instalment of the OS. An RSS feed has also been added in a prominent location, useful for those of you who keep track of Vista developments. Although currently this feed is not offering anything much more than marketing hype.

It has been reported that the new look Vista site has some issues with some IE alternative browsers (namely Opera).

Yeah I was just reading the content on the site. Wonderful site design, I'm seeing more of that lately at Microsoft (Microsoft Max site, etc.)

If anyone wants me to take screenshots of particular areas of Windows Vista, please visit THIS

Enjoy

After reading this report, I'm surprised that this is not the new homepage. Wow, thee rights might make a left but two wrongs definitely don't make a right.

Lol, there is an error in the text on the "Reliability" page:

QUOTE
Windows Vista supports full-volume encryption to prevent disk access to files by other operating systems. It also stores encryption keys in a Trusted Platform Model (TPM) v1.2 chip. The entire system partition is encrypted-both the hibernation file and the user data. It also stores encryption keys in a Trusted Platform Model (TPM) v1.2 chip, if one is available on the PC.

Anyone notice the repetition?

EDIT:

OOh just noticed a typo: "Data Syncronization" should be "Data Synchronization"

Yeah. It looks very nice compared to Microsoft's homepage.
#9 Shardie on 15 Sep 2005 - 16:21

#10 Mohsin Naqi on 15 Sep 2005 - 16:35

If you open the Vista homepage in Firefox, the "Search microsoft.com" box is messed up and the banner/bar it's supposed to reside on is half-missing. Also, the RSS feed doesn't work with Firefox: It just brings up a XML page with the header: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it."
Way to screw up, MS.
#13.1 Emon on 15 Sep 2005 - 17:12
also check out the actualy source of that page .. its freakin' ugly
#13.2 rbet on 15 Sep 2005 - 17:36
They obviously screw with Opera and FF on purpose. Stupid ****s.
#13.3 rm20010 on 15 Sep 2005 - 21:12
FF users should be grateful that it renders half decently in their browser. It's disasterous under Opera.

i like that page.

btw, what is that extension on the end of the URL - .mspx?
#14.1 Jeremy1 on 15 Sep 2005 - 21:48
It's a page that is interpreted with a custom Microsoft interpreter, which was built on the .NET Platform. The x at the end means it uses XML.
#15 rbet on 15 Sep 2005 - 17:34
I don't know, I am already starting to really hate that glossy blue look.
#16 Snollygoster on 15 Sep 2005 - 18:12
In Safari it works just fine...
#17 Angel Blue01 on 15 Sep 2005 - 20:58
Nice.
#18 Ely on 15 Sep 2005 - 23:01
Beautiful homepage.
(1 reply) #19 Cubiz on 16 Sep 2005 - 00:42
Why the hell is this considered front page news? For gods sake, it's only a webpage.
#19.1 mugwhump on 16 Sep 2005 - 02:30
Why is it front page worthy every time a new iPod comes out? It's only a little music player.
#20 j0j081 on 16 Sep 2005 - 01:52
I haven't been able to get MSN video to work in Opera either even though it has WMP support. The error message told me to download WMP or Flash lol.
#21 GeeZuZz on 16 Sep 2005 - 04:47
Can that be defined as a webpage? It's obviously not using the HTML language (see post #5).
